For gaming, this is where it's at. Runs very fast and cool.

I was suprised how well the stock heat sinc cools this, but I think thats more because of the 45nm process, rather than the fan. Either way, you can get away with a bit of an OC on the stock fan. If your feeling a bit more flush, go for a nice aftermarket heat sinc and clock this thing into the 4s.

.... the competition! This has to be one of the most overclockable, coolest running chips in the history of CPU's. Having upgraded from an e2160 to this, i can safely say that the difference in Crysis, TF2 and yes, even WoW, is absolutely amazing. Although it's at stock clocks with a IFX-14 + Xilence 120mm, it's running at 1.14v and 23-25c temps while "idle" (browsing net + disk error checking). Since Coretemp was reporting 52c idle, i assumed it was an error since the cooler wasn't even warm to touch. I then measured with Speedfan, lo and behold, 23c.

It doesn't seem to OC well, but that is probably being down to the mobo (Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI) which is being replaced with a P5K-E Wifi next month (Someone at AOAForums managed to get 4.7Ghz on AIR!)

Don't wait for Quad-cores, they probably won't OC as high (It's a bandwidth thing ;) ). Buy one of these and enjoy it all now!

My E8400 runs @ 3400mhz undervolted ! Yes it overclocks nicely and runs at a lower voltage than is recommended by Intel! If I up the speed to 3600mhz and knock the voltage back to stock it also rusn perfect !!

This CPU is simple Intels best value/performance to date and the overclockability is amazing. Mine should easy reach 4ghz with a little extra voltage and apparently this is not uncommon with these chips :D
