Reviewed by: Craig Turner What a nice upgrade to my OC'ed E1400, Letting this one burn in a bit before I start to OC, idle temp is 33C, 47C load. Going to be at 3.4-3.6 by end of week (not looking for much). All in all chuffed. VEI index (nothing really to go by, but hey ho) is 5.3

What A CPU

great processor
Reviewed by: alex bought one of these a few weeks ago, arrived next day as expected from overclockers :) i got the E0 stepping, currently at 4.2 Ghz/1.300v stable, have been up to 4.8Ghz (on water) this is as far as i will go without increasing vcore beyond 1.45 as it can damage 45nm cpu's. even without OCing this processor is great, and will run very cool. excellent value for money

Reviewed by: Nutflakes Upgraded from a 939 4200x2 4*512 ddr400 to e8400 asus p5q pro with 2*1g ozc 1066. i cant explain how much faster this goes at stock. my chip was a c0 stepping, ildes 40-45, load 51-55 on stock cooling.

Reviewed by: Mr Smith Awesome processor, great performance and great OC'ing capability! The one i recieved was of the older stepping so not as great an OC'er and still manages 4Ghz Stable on Air (A f7 pro) with 62 degrees load temp!

Overclockers sucks
Reviewed by: Hal Great chip, destroys everything. But runs very hot - Overclockers.co.uk seem to think 60-70c operating temps are normal, even when watercooled. E8400 gets 5 stars, service gets 1. Of course they wont print this.

Awesome Processor
Reviewed by: D Smith I got this into my GA P35 DS3L Rev 2.0 runs perfect. On cold starting the fan doesn't seem to spin up at all until I reset it. I wam going to research this later to see whats happening.

Reviewed by: jam Have not overclocked, and cant find a reason to, it plays on line games with ease, the jel that was on the cpu, i rubbed of and put on my own, kept the fan and temp.. not going above 37d.. my mother board supports the 1333fsb and i just amazed at the the way this runs without overclocking..

Reviewed by: Nick Amazing processor, only problem I had with buying this was that with the stock heat sink the temperatures got to over 100c. while i was only running it at 2 Ghz. Afer i replaced that junk intel heatsink with an Asus 79 Amazing heat sink my temperatures didn't go above 50. I am now over overclocked at 3.6 Ghz and loving it. Waiting on new ram to see of i can push this to 4 Ghz.

Reviewed by: Jamie Manderson Upgraded from an Athlon X2 4200+ of these along with an Asus P5Q Pro, talk about comparing night and day! Overclocked it to 3.6Ghz no issues whatsoever at 1.28Volts. Just get an aftermarket cooler (I recommend Asus Silentknight II) and youre flying!

Better Than Phenom
Reviewed by: GeoffTen Made an Intel Pc for a change. This chip is fantastic I've come from a 9600 Phenom in K9A2 with 4gb DDR2, this is much better. The Pc I now have is a lots faster. Asus P5Q3 Deluxe, 2gb of 1333 DDR3, 3 HDD, 2 DD. Great chip and overclocks well.

Fabulous Chip
Reviewed by: Greg Running this chip at 3.6ghz (9x400mhz FSB) at just 1.17 volts (1.2v in BIOS 1.17v in cpu-z and other monitoring software), haven't tried to run at even lower voltages yet as it's completely stable and runs pretty cool with the stock cooler.

Buy this now - future proof your PSU and Board and wait 12 months for new generation of quads to come out supported by new quad applications, which are few on the ground at the mo.

Reviewed by: Scott Pritchard .... the competition! This has to be one of the most overclockable, coolest running chips in the history of CPU's. Having upgraded from an e2160 to this, i can safely say that the difference in Crysis, TF2 and yes, even WoW, is absolutely amazing. Although it's at stock clocks with a IFX-14 + Xilence 120mm, it's running at 1.14v and 23-25c temps while "idle" (browsing net + disk error checking). Since Coretemp was reporting 52c idle, i assumed it was an error since the cooler wasn't even warm to touch. I then measured with Speedfan, lo and behold, 23c.

Reviewed by: Jon I have this running on an Abit IP 35 Pro, prime stable at 3.6 gig with only a minor voltage increase. Have also tested at 4 gig however voltage needed boosting to 1.45 v. Temps have never been higher than 36 idle, 60 load - Excellent.

Awesome CPU
Reviewed by: KevC Well had a few CPUs in the last 2 wks, lol and I've now settled at this for this one :). Very very fast CPU, standard clocks, cores run at 51/42 idle, 59/54 Prime 95 stressed. Used with Zalman 9500 LED which runs at 1028 rpm idle and 1518rpm under max load. CPU main temp is 16 idle and 30 under load. Very nice, very happy. Super PI 1M in 15 seconds. So quick in my games, now I must get a new Gfx card as this is bottlenecking my new CPU, lol. 8800GT looks good, nice upgrade from my 8600GT :D. Superb CPU, buy it !!!
