Bulldozers are just fineThere's a lot of negative stuff about bulldozers going about. In reality there are a load of people with too much time on their hands who are obsessed with a fraction of a GHz or some arbitrary benchmark tests. And at least some of those people are also quite ill informed.
So the FX are not performing quite as well as anticipated in some unreal tests (arguably intel biassed anyway). But if you've actually got a life and you just get on with doing whatever you do with you're computer you will find it performs brilliantly.
This thing works just fine, and does what it says on the tin. Get one if you feel like it, you wont regret it.

Brilliant!Dont let the whole 'intel vs AMD' war put you off! This is a server grade CPU that runs cool and smooth! Totally recommended! Nothing slows this beast down :)07/05/2012

Raw PowerOk so Intel has the media eating from thier palms andyes the benchmarks show that they can at the moment back it up. But ...! This processor is raw un adulterated power, it's smooth , and gives a very good user experience. I have not had a proper OC session with this yet but TBH for gaming, virtualization, encoding, ripping this thing just laughs in the face of it all and thats all I care about. So it might not be at the top of the bench marks etc but it's cheap for essentially a server grade CPU that has 8 real CPU's inside quite an engineering feat the equivelant Intel i.e an 8 core Xeon would rob you of over a grand, and thats why AMD is well back!

Just to mention the CPU comes in a nice tin box which is novel and OCUK's service was top notch as always11 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Awesome ProcessorComes in a can. I have built a system around this processor and I am over the moon with it. At the end of the day, it is going to be better for multicore applications such as gaming. Its not going to be good for single or dual core optimised applications such as word processing. But if your building a computer to use a word processing package or run excel then GTFO. This thing is for extreme gamers.11 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

FX-8 8120Ordered this to replace an old phenom Quad core and wow, thing clocked to 4.1Ghz within 5mins out the box on an arctic cooling cpu fan, temps have not gone above 32degrees.

I had a look at the reviews around the web before purchase but for my needs (mmo's football manager, some fps) i really cant find anything to complain about, especially at this price.11 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Surprised :-)Bought one of these in the 'Today Only' offer. Coming from an unlocked 960T I wasn't expecting much (given all the negativity regarding BD) but I have to say I'm impressed. Clocked to 3.6Ghz on stock volts, just played 6 hours 64 v 64 BF3 without any hassle. 48ºC max under a Hyper 212 Evo. Everything seems so much snappier...very happy and looking forward to seeing how far it will go.11 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

awsomeyet again another faultless purchase from overclockers, i bought this as an upgrade from FX-4170 i had bought earlier this year, ive already overclocked the 8120 to 4ghz and the hottest it got was while running benchmarks was just 50 degrees, im hopping to get to overclock like the 4170 which i will add overclocks like a boss (overclocked to 4.6ghz with no overheating issues on the stock heatsink and fan).

if you do the cashback offer this cpu will cost more or less the same as an i3 but get you i5/i7 performance, people who say this doesn't perform like an i5/i7 have never had this cpu as on cinibench this 8120 is already out performing an i7 which aslo means its out performing the i5 aswell11 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? EXCELLENT!Brought this in may off amazon for £130, people told me to get a sandybridge i5 because ivybridge was due for release... nevertheless i ignored them and went ahead with the purchase and its the best thing ive ever done! this processor at the moment is on 4ghz ~5ghz with the turbo core stuff on. as for multitasking... omg coupled with 8gb of ram, a decent mobo, an ssd and a decent graphics chip this chip urinates all over intel!! im an advanced pc user and i do quite a lot of multitasking and because of its awesome 8 cores im yet to experience the thing crash or slow down!! everythings done in an instant and i barely ever see loading screens!! the only slight negative comment i have is the stock cooler isnt up to much... the fan is less that 80mm (dont know exact size) and even though it does 6000rpm it doesnt seem very good, on a 4+ghz overclock the temps can creep up to the 50c mark so good ventilation is key. i'd defo get an aftermarket cooler. thats next on my 'to buy' li!

Poor InnovationThis is probably one of the worst processors of our generation. For it's high price, it is truely outperformed by an Intel Core i5 which is cheaper! You can only just compare it to an i3 and I wasn't very impressed with its performance. I returned mine and put my 1090t back in my machine which ran smoother, then finally made my move to intel! If your looking for a processor that wont bottleneck, go intel, or google for a Phenom!11 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Excellent!Bought this for my new system last week.
Installation was easy and it runs smooth and fast. WEI rates it a 7.8
As it is a Bulldozer, overclocking this was very easy. I currently have it clocked to 4GHz with just the stock cooler (Which is a rather nifty cooler.) Planning to buy a nice watercooler for this next week though to see how much further I can crank it :)
Overall this is a stunning product.
As for the AMD Vs Intel clash. I find that AMD are the innovators of the future. AMD make the future cheaper and Intel just make the present better...for a price.

Very goodHow can you argue the price and value? Nearly everyone says go with the i5 or Intel but for me having used Intel and AMD over the years (unbiased) this processor is fantastic. I got it overclocked to 3.8Ghz virtually out of the box with not much effort, I will spend more time and achieve a higher clock. Don't think that because these are cheaper than a lot of other processors they are slow because they are not, they are very quick and plenty cores for multi tasking. 5 star from me10 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review?
