AwesomeThis is a great mous.....errr desk rug.
When I saw the size of this, I measured my desk up and as it turned out my desk surface is the exact same size at 1200X600mm. I knew I had to have it. It covers my enite desk perfectly like it was made for it.
The tracking on this thing seems the same if not a bit better than me previous mat (Roccat Taito) but it did take a little getting used to as it seems bit more slidey (The Roccat was a bit old an grimey though so maybe the little extra grip it had was because of that). But after a few matchmaking games in cs go I've adapted and wouldn't go back.
There's no curled corners. As soon as you take it out and lay it down, it's perfectly flat, whereas my more expensive and much much smaller (Mid size) Roccat Taito had a curled corner right out of the tube that got gradually worse over time from my wrist catching on it and folding it over.
There's a nice satin feel texture to the surface and a nice rubber grip at the bottom. But regardless of the grip at the bottom I don't think this mat will ever move anywhere due to its sheer size, however the grip holds it securely just in case.
The overclockers logo on the bottom right corner is not a transfer like a lot of mats. It is actually part of the material of the surface, running my fingers accross it is just the same as running them accross the rest of the mat.
As great as it is though, it isn't perfect. Now the tracking and the quality of the mat is sublime, but I have two or three niggles that really dont affect the mats performance but they are niggles nonetheless. The main one being that the edges of the mat are a bit, lets say, sharp. They rub on the wrist and it can get slightly uncomfortable after a while. I actually have a bit of a red patch on my right wrist from rubbing on the edge when moving the mouse around. It's given me a small patch of what feels and looks like mild sunburn. However, this could just be down to newness as the section where my wrist has been rubbing has smoothed out somewhat after a couple of nights gaming.
The second thing is an aesthetic one. There is a very slight hint of horizontal banding accross the mat. It could actually be the design of the print, I don't know, but it has a very very slight corrugated look to the surface. This is nothing to moan about though and is only really visible under certain lighting and angles.
The third thing is actually two fold but nothing to do with the mat itself. The mat went on sale for a fiver less the day after I ordered.....and....I didn't get any Haribos. I know this stuff happens but I think an overclockers mug with a packet of Haribos in it would be a nice good will gesture:P
Anyway, this is a great mat, and apparently washing machine proof. However if it falls apart in 3 or 4 months when I stick it in the washer for the first time, I will be buying another one of these as a replacement.
