Expecting betterInstallation was easy. Thermal tape sticks to the side of the drives, and a few screws later your finished.
Only use this product if you have adequate airflow through your 5.25" bays (i.e. install a cooling fan!), or you have a drive bay spare above and below the hard drive. Without adequate airflow, you are likely to see an increase in temp! (increased my hard drive temps by 20 deg C or so).
The sound reduction was a mixed bag as well. Whilst vibration was reduced, the noise level appeared to be worse after installation because
a) It's much higher up in the case, and will be physically nearer your ears (my case is on the floor).
b) There's much more space around the drives, which acts to amplify any remaining hard drive sound.
All in all, its a great quality product to mount hard drives in a 5.25 bay, but it's not so great as a method of noise reduction and/or cooling without the use of other components to compliment it.

Great AddittionApart from being able to put my Raptor in a 5 1/4" drive bay and quitening it down this item has my Raptor running @ 5 degrees Celcius cooler than it had been, not bad for 6 squid.04/01/2009

Works just fineI was a little sceptical about buying this adapter after reading the reviews, but for £7 it wouldn't really break the bank to try it.
I only really wanted a 3.5 to 5.25 converter and this had added cooling which seems to work, HHD temperature is the same as before when there was an intake fan blowing right onto it.
As for noise dampening I can't hear any additional noise from my case, the rubber mounts must be doing their job.

Overall I can't really find fault in this product. Very pleased.11 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Does the job intended...Useful little kit, if you need to squeeze an extra 3.5" device into a 5.25" bay.

Used these to fit a hard drive into a ODD bay, but will be re-using them with a dual 2.5" adaptor bracket to fit a pair of SSDs into a bay on my PC-P50R.

One little gotcha - there actually black, not blue!11 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Reasonable for poor casesIf you have a reasonable case or some means of hard drive cooling already, i wouldnt waste your time. I shall explain each feature of these and my experience of them.

    1. Cooling ability 3/5

It does provide a small amount of cooling, but with little airflow you wont have much luck, but your drives will stay cooler with a fan blowing directly on them than even using these.

    2. Noise Dampening 1/5

I noticed little to no difference from having them clamped to bare metal, im not even sure how it works, if it is supposed to. It advertises "Rubber mounts" it isn't, it is metal bars (yes thats right the vibration is still transferred to your case) with a bit of rubber around them, which does pretty much nothing.

    3. Conversion of 3.5" - 5.25" 5/5

Well it does this alright, there's no doubt about it! Handy if you are out of 3.5" bays.

Bottom line 3/5 for me, Look cool, do a small amount of cooling, but the case is just as noisey for me.11 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

not that goodok for converting a 3.5 to 5.25 bay and they seem to cool a bit, however if you have a thermaltake armour case they wont work as the mount the drive to far forward to fit the fan on the front of the case.

I have found a way round it by mounting the fans on top of the HDDs not ideal but it solved my problems.

They do look nice and if you have enough room in the front of your case or where you hdds are then go for it.

i cant coment on the sound as i cent hear my hdds over the fans anyway!11 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes
