Does the jobGot this one today, item actually arrived as M5A97 R2.0 build, however if you are planning on using this with Vishera (Piledriver) CPU, you will still need to flash to the newer BIOS version as shown here http://bit.ly/120kjzX.
ASUS conveniently allows you to flash from USB stick without even booting up the PC, so even if you don't have an older AMD CPU handy, you should be good.
Another thing to remember is 970 chipset has only one x16 PCI-E slot, so if you are planning on SLI/Crossfire setup, you need to go for 990X/990FX board instead.
I have single video card setup, managed to get mine FX-8 8320 to 4GHz just on multiplier without much hassle. Overall, happy with the board so far. Good value for money.

Rev 2.0 ArrivedDecided to update my 3 year old system from a AMD 955 based system with an ASUS M3A motherboard to this with an AMD 8350.
You may wonder why I didnt go the Intel route - cost.
This board, 16GB RAM, AMD 7850, USB 3 card reader & 8350 CPU for less than 450.
I dont go mental for overclocking but I do lots of photo and video editing as well as play Battlefield 3.
The board is very stable. Has USB 3 ports at the rear and important for me has a header for a card reader.
Unless you need Crossfire with 2 x16 lanes then why pay more?

SolidRunning My fx 8320 @ 4.2 GHZ Multipyer only @ 1.412 v , the board runs nice and cool although at extreme loads ( synthetic ) the board starts a sound which can only be described as coil wine . not a massive problem and is still very faint ( head to side of the case sort of thing ). & is not a known issue on forums . but does not affect performance one bit. handles well with 4 x banks 4GB @ 1866 9-10-9-28 ... VRM's stay cool.... have had no issues & never needed to flash the bios ( revison 1 ) . UEFI bios is a treat to use and makes digesting ifomation for overclocking that much easier. it does auto tune a stable overclock automaticly if you want an overclock but dont know how to go about it . but the Voltage is always higher to get stability then if tried manually. reached a 3.9 overclock on 1.430 volts for automatic . but the board is capable of so much more and it seems the board overclocks for complete stability over stability and a decent overclock and power consumtion. !
was thinking about moving to a 990fx but to be honet havnt seen the need to and im a serious power user320 User found this Review usefullHelpful Review? Yes
