The BeastI upgraded from a 24" Dell Ultra sharp and WOW what a difference playing BF3 at 120hz in 2D.
It is well worth its money in gold and 3D Movies are so sharp and crystal clear . The glasses fit snug and are very comfortable
3D ready games look unreal. BF3, Borderlands 2 look amazing.
So one word if you got the cash GET ONE OF THESE daddy of all monitors

Good but priceyThe reviewer below states that this monitor takes up more desk space than a 24" one...talk about stating the obvious. Anyway, I have to say this is a nice piece of hardware. 120hz is very smooth when not in 3D. The stand is fine with no wobble, unless you have a major rage quit. Asus have reverted to the matt finish on the screen which is way better than the shiny, shiny of the 23" version. 3D vision2 is much better than the last effort, and lightboost does actually work, and makes the viewing easier on the eyes. The built in 3D emitter at the top of the monitor is a good idea, and tidies up the desk clutter. The vision2 glasses are an improvement and do what they are intended for. In all, the best screen 3D has to offer, and in 2D 120hz it will match the best out there. One star knocked off for the price, but at the moment you get what you pay for. Recommended.26/12/2011

3D GoodnessI did lots of research before settling for this monitor. As always there was good and bad reviews (2D being a downside) but I was after a full immersive 3D experience and from reviews I read, this was tops in all.
After attatching the supplied Dual link cable and firing it up I was pleasently surprised at the 2D picture quality. The reviews I had read rubbished the 2D performance but IMO it is far from poor and after adjustments it looks quality (buttons are not easy to use though).
Dirt 3 was the 1st game i tried and immediately I was blown away. The same with Skyrim but the 1 game that made me jaw hit the floor was Trine 2. If you get this monitor buy Trine 2.
I watched Avatar in 3D and again absoloute quality (I watched Avatar in 3D at the cinema on 1st release and I feel this monitor gave more depth and higher 3D detail)
BF3 was a little dissapointing with only the HUD and sights being 3D but this is a minor thing.
I can not recommend this monitor enough. Price is worth it :)9 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Brilliant monitorThis is one of the best monitors i have seen, the picture quailty and brightness is fantastic. You will certainly see a huge difference running windows or any game in 120Hz. The 3D is amazing have been watching 3D blu ray films and gaming in 3D all looks great.

Well worth the £6009 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

3D at it's bestSceptical at first entering the 3D world as many have referred to it as being just a gimmick. After biting the bullet and trying this beast out for myself I can certainly say it's no gimmick, Games like GW2 - Skyrim - Witcher 2 any many more simply become more immersive with added depth and pop out, without a doubt it gives the wow factor. Going back to non 3D is something that I won't even consider despite having to wear goggles throughout game play and looking like a nerd.

If you thinking of going 3D and prefer the larger 27" screen then it's unlikely you will disappointed - Asus have produced a very good 3d panel.
However bear in mind you will need some serious GPU to get the most out of this if you want to keep a good framerate, preferably an SLI solution.9 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

The Daddy!I've owned a BenQ 2410T 24" 3D monitor, a Samsung 27sa950 3D monitor and an Acer 27" HN274H 3D monitor and i have to say, this Asus 278H is the Daddy out of all of them.

The 120hz is smooth as butter for 2D gaming and the new Nvidia 3D vision 2.0 tech is great. The glasses are more comfortable and the monitor's Lightboost technology means that during 3D mode the screen looks just as light as 2D mode instead of going dull like the old style 3D tech.

I found Samsung's 3D mode to be barely noticeable and their Tri-def 3D software was fiddly as hell. But Nvidia know how to properly support games with their software and its just a case of switching it on or off (how it should be).

The LED backlight keeps everything bright and clear and having the IR emitter built into the monitor itself rather than having a block next to the monitor is a real nice touch.

A+ for Asus, great job!8 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

A breath of fresh airThe Asus VG278H is a fantastic monitor.

I love gaming at 120hz in 2D mode and its great to see they finally boosted the lighting whilst in 3D mode.

I used to own a Samsung 27SA950 but sold it on ebay because the screen majorly glossy and it just kept reflecting every light in the room towards my eyes. And when there was a black background on the screen i could see myself as if i was looking into a mirror. Not very immersive during gaming!

I am very pleased to say though that the Asus VG278H has a matte finish and reflects nothing. I have perfect clarity whilst gaming and watching blu ray movies now.8 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

At last....I'm surprised at the other reviewer being surprised at the other reviewer.....each to their own huh.

Had this over a month now.

This is a great monitor - depending on your use. If your coming from an IPS monitor then you WILL notice the difference in image quality. TN's cant match IPS, if you need the highest quality for image processing or suchlike then this isnt for you.

For 3D gaming/films tho it excels!

Imperceptible input lag with this screen, and nice fast imagery with no ghosting so far noticed.
I like BF3, BC2 and pretty much most of the Valve games and I've also had Need For Speed and Dirt3 running, again with no noticeable ghosting.

Not sure what the other reviewer did with their stand but mines rock solid.

its great for gaming, flix and general computing (my pc uses VCS for home working) and you can use PS3, 360 or anything else via HBMI 1.4.

    IPS for professional image work
Asus VG278 for fun stuff :-)8 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Dont buy this... ....if you want to enjoy 2D games ever again!

This setup is amazing. I got mine yesterday (thanks OCUK for yet another great buying experience and timely delivery) and I don't regret my purchase for a moment, it was money well spent even though I never tried it before.

3D ready games look unreal. HL2, Portal 2, Starcraft 2, MW3, BF3, Arkham City and Bulletstorm look amazing.

The screen may not be 'perfect' for desktop use, but for gaming it's fantastic. In 120 Hz mode there is no screen tearing and animations are smooth.

The glasses are comfortable and I got no eye strain or headaches even after about 6 hours.

The build quality of the stand is rock solid and it fits together in seconds. I'm not sure what the other reviewer did to his stand, or even if he got the same product, I have zero issues with mine.

If you are at all interested in 3D this is a must buy, 2 of my friends came over to see it last night and would buy the same if they could afford it.

Seriously Buy It Now!8 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Amazing. This monitor is the daddy
If you want a no compromise 3d solution, with bright massive 3d gaming then this is the monitor for you.
The new lightboost technology is a lot brighter then the old 3d vision and with the new integral infra red emitter there's no longer any need to have extra wires and fiddley little boxes like in 3d vision 1.
The glasses are a LOT more comfortable and the lenses are a lot bigger
So u got bigger and brighter 3d

For anyone considering buying this monitor I'd say two words
