SuperbWhat a wonderful product. I've been looking for a good streaming media player to replace the PS3's and xbox 360's I have in each room to view the media on my server. I just plugged it in and set it up (an easy task) and it recognised all 8 drives in my server immediately. It's also highly customisable (thanks to B-Rads firmware), there's not much you can't do with it. I'll be buying a few more in the next few weeks.24/12/2011

Cheap NAS featureJust discovered the other day, that this unit is recognisable on the network. if you have any USB hard-drive plugged into it, you can access all your files over the network from this unit even when switched off (in standby mode).
Amazing Feature, means i don't need to buy a NAS drive and i can stream all my digital content to other computers in the house :D very pleased.
Another feature is that this unit has updateable firmware, so no need to worry about new codecs comming out causing it to get outdated.
Also, it has a ability to download information about your content from the internet based on the filename so you can see a pictures and a synopsis.
I have also researched that this unit is easily hackable too (custom firmware), but haven't found that i needed to alter the unit just yet :P

First Impressions GoodInterface is nice looking.

some nice extras not mentioned in specs, is the ability to zoom the view in, so that those superwide screen formats work on a widescreen tv.

another useful feature is a audio lipsync, giving you the ability to shift the audio +/- 100ms incase your playing a problematic file.

I have encountered a few problems with this unit, which turned out not to be the units fault...

1st, if using Virgin Broadband, this unit will periodically restart whilst watching videos. this is because the virgin superhub has "UPnP" enabled. turn this feature off to resolve.

2nd, if you are transferring video over the network, make sure you have enough bandwidth, otherwise the video will stutter and doesn't seem to have any buffering features. (i had been using a networking through the home power plug unit, i moved this to a better location to achieve better speeds).

overall the unit seems great, and plays a majority of file formats, MKV support is superb on this unit.14 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

    Best Media PlayerRobert Astbury

Thanks for that tip on Superhub :) solved my problems :)

This is a very good media player, firmware could be better, but hopefuly in time the little niggling bugs will be ironed out.12 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes
