ASUS Xonar D2 audio card, dedicated to be the best audio card for gaming and home entertainments, provides unprecedented 118dB In/Out SNR audio quality and features for games.
“Unbelievable.Just got this on impulse on a visit to the Overclockers outlet. It has replaced a SB Titanium Fatality pci-ex card. What a difference - awesome sound - really impressive. Never going back to Creative - no popping or crackling, well happy.01/04/2013“
“High-end card for Linuxi all,
Just a quick bit of advice for anyone after a high-end soundcard for Linux systems.
X-FI cards are not support in Linux as of yet and Creative are taking their time in building a driver for both Vista and Linux (nice one Creative)
However, this Asus Xonar uses the CMI8788 chipset and a beta driver for Linux is currently available and should soon develop to a fully featured driver in the next couple of months.
Not sure how much use this is to people - but i thought i would let people know that this is an excellent card that not only supports the 'mighty' Vista - but also GNU/Linux systems too ;)30/01/2008“

Good quality Asus componentSeeing as the Vista drivers for the X-Fi cards are still lacking, I sold my X-Fi and purchased a Xonar. I must say that its good to have decent audio quality again.
Instead of prattleing on about everything being crystal clear I'll just point out the basics. The audio quality that's output by this card is excellent and there's all the cables and connectors included in the retail box that you'll ever need. Asus have also thoughtfuly included an interesting software package consisiting of various audio editing programs. Though best of all, this card is fully functional under Vista.
Unfortunately, this card doesn't support EAX, but it does support Dolby Digital effects that some newer PC games, such as Bioshock, use. If you're a Vista user then I heartily recommend this card, though if you're still on XP you should flip a coin on whether you get the Xonar or the X-Fi.13 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Congratulations AsusBought this replacing a X-Fi (as many people have)It was a cross-up between this and the Auzentech Prelude, and I'm very happy with my desicion! This is easily the best sound I've ever heard coming out of a home system! running it to 2x 130 watt studio speakers (M-Audio BX8a) and the sound is crystal clear. Good software, although the Music preset has far too much reverb and sounds somewhat crap, the 'Hi-Fi' mode actually seems to sound best for music. I don't actually use much EQ with this card either, neither in my audio player, nor in the scard software, and mp3s sound fantastic. When I first plugged in the card, the output off this baby was signficantly LOUDER than my previous ZS 2 Pro's output in practice, and aswell as being almost perfect sound reproduction, I HIGHLY recommend this card.
overall an EASY 5/5. if you're a hardcore gamer, you may miss the higher EAX versions, but for everything else, amazing. LOOK NO FURTHER! (except maybe the PCI-e version ;] lol)13 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Xonar c2 pciOk sick and tired of creative with their poor support and driver I thought to switch to the xonar to try it out under vista.
Great sound(much clearer than my xfi gamer) and dont believe the BS-thats in games and music!
Good software after uploading new drivers-no problems and 100% happy for coughing up a modest 90 squids to get rid of creative once and for all(have tryed their sound cards, speakers, mice and mp3 players).12 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

X-FI KillerI recieved mine today, hurriedly ripped out (not literally) my X-FI Xtreme Gamer and replaced it with this, obviously havign removed any trace of Cretive drivers or software from my computer before..
All I can say is..WOW, the speaker position ester alone is better than my X-FI sound experience as a whole. Nor mroe screams of death, cracking or popping. Just amazing sound quality from a fantastic product!
I'm yet to try a game but I don't really care for EAX5, emulation is good enough for me and I'm much happier wit a more stable product :)
Even the click noises in windwos are much higehr quality than before ^^

ExcellentUpgraded from an Audigy 2zs, and the difference is incredible. The Asus Xonar is awesome – I used to hear a hissing sound coming from my speakers, and assumed that it was the amp rather than the sound card, then plugged this in and no hissing. I bought this because I listen to a lot of music and watch films. I did not realise how good music could sound on a computer. I’m very happy with this product. Cheers overclockers!11 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Asus Xonar D2Finally decided to ditch my x-fi ExtermeMusic after a year of tearing my hair out with Vista x64. Arrived this a.m and haven't stopped smiling since. Music playback is crystal clear and punchy, I've finally got my subwoofer back under media centre so movie watching is a joy. To top it all off I loaded up Crysis and ...WOW!!! Don't know the mechanics of EAX or whether I'll miss it or not but I can't recall playing this on the Xfi and actually physically turning round, reacting to a rustling of trees in my rear right speaker! Hearing the enemy before seeing them has bought a whole new dimension to this game, can't wait to try out some more titles. To sum up, stunning, simply stunning!11 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes
