Fantastic for the priceI wasn't sure what to expect when I got this card, but almost immediately I could tell it was a big improvement on the Sound Blaster it replaced. The sound quality is excellent and the clearest I've ever heard from a sound card. Go ahead and buy one, you won't be disappointed.25/06/2009

Crisp and clearAdded this to my newest rig after weeks of using the on-board audio, all I can say is thank goodness!! Was going to get a sound blaster originally but saw this and the features it offered for such a low price. It's a superb sound card, audio is so crisp and clear in movies/music/games and the config software is a breeze to use.
If you are still using on board audio then do yourself a favour, for such a low price the benefits are enormous.
5 star product and 5 star service from OCuK.

Excellent card for the moneyBought this card to go in my HTPC. I had a Creative Audigy SE, using Windows 7 and an optical module connected to my 5.1 speakers, I got sound through 1 speaker, no matter what I did. Disgusted at the poor drivers for the Audigy SE, decided to get the Xonar DS.

What impressed me greatly with the Asus card over Creative's offering, is that a converter module is included with the DS to allow connection to some digital speakers via an optical cable. Creative have a digital out on their Audigy SE and X-Fi low profile cards, but you have to buy an optical module separate. Which is a joke considering it's included with the Xonar DS, and that the one for Creatives cards is not widely available. The final nail in the Audigy SE coffin is that the Xonar DS works fine with Windows 7. I get excellent sound through my 5.1 speakers via the optical module, likewise analogue speakers too.

If you want an affordable low profile sound card to use with digital speakers via optical, this card is great.5 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

A must upgrade over on-board audioBought this as an upgrade over the on-board audio, i wasnt expecting much as its stupid cheap......jaw on floor...a must if you need a dedicated sound card and are penny pinching.

Note - the driver supplied played havoc with my Windows 7 64bit....but d/ld update from Asus site and all is good.5 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

So HappyAt first I was a little dubious because of the price being so low, but I was blown away by the sheer quality of this card! My on-board sound started crashing my PC during games and I borrowed a friends Razer Baraccuda. I do not lie when I say that this card impressed me more than the Razer. Money definately well spent!

p.s. Make sure you get the Win7 drivers from Asus as they don't come with the card.5 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Sounds great with Win 7 drivers!!Sought out a card to go with on-board 7.1 to use with my VDJ programme. This card came up more than once, luckily it was on offer for that week so bought it immediately. Had some problems as it didn't have Win 7 drivers with, overcame them, started some Dizzy.....It goes really well with my Logitech 5.1 system. crystal clear sounds even raising the bad boy to the max. For the money, cant be beat, honestly its a quality card with great playback features.5 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Music never sounded so good!I bought one of these due to issues with my on-board card not being able to process the sound data during games, and I got tired of slowed down voices and crackly noise replacing sound effects.

Had some initial problem with the supplied drivers; looks like the drivers were windows vista designed, so if you're running 7, download the latest from Asus site!

I hadn't long since bought some 5.1 speakers from overclockers, and being my first surround sound setup, it made a big difference.
This was nothing as compared to the difference when I started using the DS.
The clarity of sound is unbelievable in contrast to on-board sound, and the difference is most notable when listening to music. Writing 'high fidelity' on packaging doesn't preapre you for what you hear; there are entire instruments i'd previously never heard in songs i've been listening to for years.

At first I was dubious that this would be any improvement over what I already had, but in my oppinion, it's a bargain!5 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Good, but a few flawsFor the price the sound form this is excellent. Unfortunately due to poor customer service from asus and wierd drivers it could be much better. The asus audio center used with the card has decided to stop letting me use the equalizer when in 2 channel mode (despite this being the standard mode for music). I also do get some background noise at high volume through my heaphones (sennheisser HD 555's) though this is negligable.4 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes
