same as Vista except it worksI like most people loved XP, when Vista came I gave it a go and I was impressed by the graphics and the new look and feel but I was not impressed by the fact it never worked (even after the service pack). windows 7 has the look and feel of vista(with some minor changes) but the major difference is in the back end it now works. I have also not found any programme I couldn't get to work on Windows 7 yet all be it with some minor tweaking. in my opinion this is the first real upgrade option from XP.25/02/2010

Best so farBetter than xp and vista, if you haven't upgraded then do so now.21/05/2010

Much betterI was reluctant in buying 7 as was told its just as bad as vista but decided to ignore all that and simply upgraded from XP and had no problems other than having to get a new usb dongle for my wireless internet as the old one would not work (it was 4 years old).
7 has to be the easiest OS ever, even easier than XP which I had used for several years. Everything is so simple and as im now 64bit... my 4 gig memory works too.

If you want to upgrade from XP or vista... DO IT!!! 7 makes vista look like Windows ME in comparision! You will not be disappointed19 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Minor issuesDecided to upgrade after many years from xp. Love the layout and features. Looks pretty an is extremely fast. But here is were my problems surfaced. I have an abit p35 pro mobo, and with the driver installion cd, there is of course no windows7 support. I scoured the web only to find there are no drivers at all for this chipset. This isnt a HUGE issue as i only am unable to use the ethertnet ports, and instead must rely on a network adapter. Apart from that, its perfect.19 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Not as smoth as VistaI like Win 7, but had trouble with some software. No problem with drivers like vista did, but still a little glitchy.
Windows 7 looks and works well, but not as smooth as vista. Will wait for service packs before loading it again. Hasten to say i reloaded Vista, but to be honest vista had the same glitchy feel to it when it was new, but after sp1, it worked like a dream. All in all, win 7 is a stable platform, better than xp, and i don't care what ppl say about xp, it was unstable and unreliable. Win 7 & vista beats it hands down.18 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Absolutely brilliantA really good operating system. Just upgraded from Vista and can notice the difference instantly, everything overall is smoother and faster. A bit disappointed that this was how Vista was supposed to be but now I have Win 7 I realize this is how Vista could have been if optimized. Vista was constantly disk caching and although I have 8 Gb of Ram, it was a very jerky experience. I play games mostly and although my monitor has motion blur everything runs better on my ATI 5850. Really pleased about the Directx 11 implementation that should be a good visual experience when games are coded for it. My system:3.66 Intel quad, 8GB quad Ram, one ATI Radeon 5850 and 4 HD with a throughput of just 185MB sec. The only letdown is the slightly weak GPU and HD's but still it runs OK. Just make sure your hardware will run with it and you'll be OK.17 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

glad i jumped from XP Ordered lunchtime ,arrived in the post next day thank you OC,s
Cheaper than Everywhere else i looked

tried vista went back to Xp
waited till i saw the reviews of this and friends opinions .
Really good OS no major problems lots of little nice touches which just add to the appeal

went for the 64 bit as i have a new system and want to use all the ram .
Treated myself to a new HD to do a clean install .

If you have waited with XP and have the money do it!17 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

Beware the 16Gb RAM limitGreat OS, I'm a massive fan of windows 7, even the early release client was more stable and snappier than Vista.
One little issue with Home Premium that I've only just realised is that there is a usable RAM limit of 16Gb. Bit of a pain considering I just upgraded the RAM in my main box to 24Gb (seeing as it's so cheap currently), only two thirds of it is usable unless I upgrade to Pro or Ultimate :-/ At least my Linux install happily uses it all.17 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Good potentialI've been running Windows 7 now since the RC Beta. It's a very smooth and clean operating system. I have only encountered one problem so far, which is ventrilo. After 5 minutes or so, I can not hear anyone talk, then about 5minutes later, everything catches up at once. It's as if it's some sort of lag. But the problem is easily solved in the ventrilo set up by clicking "Use Direct Sound" in both input and output.

That aside it truly has a lot of potential, it's very fast, very pretty and extremely efficient. There will always be creases to iron with new software. But there's isn't half as much as what Vista had. Overall I'd say this O/S is on par with XPSP216 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes

EZInstalled new hardware, booted, then ran windows 7 upgrade, no problems, worked like a charm, A CHARM! Takes a few hours to upgrade if wanting to keep files etc but came to PC this morning and it just asked for serial and then was fine.

Great shipping from OCUK again too, arrived in Ireland within 48 hours!16 User found this Review usefullhelpful Review? Yes
