Good with caveats

If I were to review this chair in one sentence, it would be to say they didn't dot the i's and cross the t's. It's a chair plenty of padding and seams sturdy. But they could have polished it a little more before calling the job done. I'll give my reasons so people can see if they apply to them or not.

I'm not a small person. Not short, not narrow and definitely not light. I picked this chair over the cheaper AK Racing chair elsewhere on this site because I looked up the specs on their actual site and this chair is a few centimetres wider. If you're a large person and you're reading this review wondering whether you'll fit in it, then the answer is almost certainly yes. If you can buy clothes in regular shops, I'm sure it will be usable by you. However, I do find it tight. If like me you're the sort of person who shops in High and Mighty, I would suggest you keep looking a little longer before settling for this. It would be okay if it weren't for those little side panels you can see in the picture. As it is, I'm keeping this chair but it's very borderline. Without those, it would be fine for me.

Anyway, if it sounds like I'm spending a big portion of this review on the size of the chair, that's because people like myself are dependent on reviews like this.

Now, for those potential customers who didn't play prop for their rugby team, how is the chair? For you, I would put the chair up a star. The seat and back are certainly padded comfortably, albeit very firm (but I consider that good). However, when I was putting it together I just got a bit of a rough feel off it. The way the holes for the bolts are just roughly torn out of the fabric for instance. They get covered up by the plastic attachments so don't worry, but it was a bit ugly compared to what I'm used to. And actually getting the screws in the holes that are all buried deep in the frame and can't be seen when you're attaching the parts, well that's quite a mission. You're fumbling around on the inside without any visibility. A gynaecologist can probably assemble this chair quickly, everyone else is going to be struggling for a bit.

That said, once assembled, job done and it feels sturdy. The plastic parts on the side are pretty shoddy. Very soft, weak plastic that deforms massively when you're screwing it in and you only realize that you've screwed it in too far when you realize that the plastic is now concave. That's what I mean about missing the little things - there's nothing to stop you turning that screw until it pulls straight through the plastic. If the whole was the right depth, there'd be no risk.

Oh, and the instructions showed the wrong chair. They're broadly right, but I ended up just ignoring them and using my intelligence.

Now I don't want this review to put people off the chair. It's going to be fine for 98% of buyers. The padding is pretty firm and the head rest downright solid. If you're looking for something to sink and be cossetted, this chair isn't it. But I think it's good from a long-term comfort and health perspective. Mostly, my criticisms are because this is an EXPENSIVE chair. I wouldn't pick up on the weak side plastic if this were a regularly priced chair, I'd just shrug and accept it. But if you're paying for really good quality, you expect little details to be taken care of. They took care of the big things (padding, sturdiness), but missed a lot of the details. Like the little copper hoops that hold the back cover down and are visible.

There's a very good chance I'll be sending this chair back (my main motivation not to is just the hassle), but that is purely because it's not good enough for large people. If you're regular sized, you should find this chair comfortable and sturdy. If of interest, yes - you should be able to remove the armrests if you don't want them. I haven't done so but they're just attached by bolts to the underside of the seat so it wont be a problem. Sadly, you wont be able to get rid of the little wing-tips at the front of the seat as they're a major part of the chair. So if you don't like sitting for long periods with your legs straight instead of angled open, this chair isn't for you.

TL;DR: This chair would be three or four stars if it were a regular priced one. Two or three stars for a "high-end" chair. Partly for little things, chiefly for bad design with those wing-tips and its unsuitability for large people. I hope that's useful.
