Can you really make a computer this small? This is probably the first question that springs to mind when it comes to Intel's range of NUC motherboards. The answer: Yes, and that includes with integrated high-performance CPUs to boot. It's one thing to power a display with high-powered components in the background, but it's another thing entirely to do so in such a small form factor.

The Newton S7 case from Akasa was designed for seventh-gen NUC boards and can be laid flat or mounted directly to the VESA mount of a monitor. Specially designed for NUC boards, it is extremely compact and above all flat - yet in addition to the practical benefits it offers, it also looks fantastic on a table or behind the monitor.

With its brushed aluminium front, the black Akasa Newton S7 has a reserved, discrete, yet stylish and contemporary look reminiscent of an HTPC case that would be right at home in any living room or HiFi setup. The clean and tidy front offers just two USB ports, an audio connector and an opening for installing an IR receiver. This makes it possible to control the system from a distance, making it perfect as a living room PC. There are also two small openings for microphones.

The top and outer edges are equipped with aluminium cooling fins, the idea behind this being that the case itself forms the cooler and no additional fans are needed. This means, that the NUC system in the Akasa Newton S7 functions silently.

For optimal heat transfer, thermal pads come included with the case. VESA mounting screws, motherboard screws, rubber stand-offs and all the necessary cables and accessories come included. Everything needed to get it operational is included, although an external power supply must be ordered separately. The plate of the heatsink conducts heat into the case and the fins help transfer waste heat into the surrounding air - all in absolute silence!
