Alpenfohn 140mm Wing Boost 3 Plus PWM Fan

Alpenföhn has not only convinced discerning customers for years with its range of first-class wing boost fans. The family is now growing again with the third generation fans. The premium fans benefit from the many benefits of their famous predecessors, rubber-coated outer skin that acts as a full-body vibration damper, or the so-called "wing boosts", small increases on the impeller intake side, which reduces air turbulence. The fan works therefore quieter at higher speeds than conventional fan designs would allow it.

The features of the Wing Boost 3
- Hydrodynamic bearing for high performance, quiet operation and long life
- Optimized red leaves deliver the perfect balance between contact pressure and airflow
- New diffuser ensures more efficient distribution of waste heat
- Speed range from 400 to 1,050 rpm
- 4-pin PWM connector and Y-switch

The detail of the Wing Boost 3
In the Wing Boost 3, Alpenföhn also uses a hydrodynamic plain bearing that reduces friction noise to a minimum and thus guarantees whisper-quiet operation even at low speeds. Of course there is no regression in the case of the housing attachment, for which decoupling rubber pins are also included.

The actual improvement compared to the predecessor is the Wing Boost is in the additional stator in the frame, which directs the flow axially out. This lowers the volume of the fan. In addition, Alpenföhn has changed the angle of attack of the fan blades in such a way that the rotor is optimized for low speeds and thus creates a significantly higher volume flow and total pressure as well as an improved exit velocity. Together with the stator, the air flow is fanned further, thus reducing waste heat more efficiently.

Higher static pressure at lower speed
In this way, especially the static pressure can be further increased without the volume at the same time increasing. High static pressure is an advantage at practically every location, whether radiator, processor cooler or housing.

It ensures that even at lower speeds enough air flow is available. It is a maximum of 103 m³ / h when the fan rotates at full speed of 1,050 rpm and works no louder than 22 dB (A). Thanks to PWM support, the speed is determined automatically by compatible mainboards and in dependence on the temperature.

As a "plus" version the Wing Boost 3 fans have a great feature that Alpenföhn had presented with the introduction of the K2 cooler or its fan for the first time. It is a Y-switch on the fan cable, with the help of which it is finally possible to operate up to three PWM fans on only one such mainboard connection. So you can always be sure that all fans are regulated automatically and uniformly.
