Product information

"A10-5800K Black Edition 3.80GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Quad Core Processor (AD580KWOHJBOX)"

The AMD A10-5800K Black Edition in some ways is all the CPU you will ever need. With 4 cores and a stock speed of 3.80GHz, which automatically turbo's upto 4.20GHz when required, this CPU can handle anything you throw at it. Even more impressive is the overclocking ability of these processors with some reaching near 5GHz on air cooling.

The main and best feature of the A10-5800k is the onboard IGP, the HD 7660D which is equivalent in gaming performance to a HD 6670 and can actually play any game including the latest titles with moderate quality settings. In our own testing Borderlands 2 at 1680x1050 with all details on maximum was more than playable, with smooth frame rates. However it is very important with the FM2 platform to use high speed memory as the onboard IGP gets a serious performance boost with faster memory upto 2400MHz.

For those who require more graphics performance, adding a HD 6670 to the mix will enable Hybrid Crossfire giving upto approx 80% additional performance in modern gaming titles, making this new platform viable for entry level gaming machines that can play the latest gaming titles.

Features:-
- Get gaming performance that outmatches Intel Core i3 and discrete NVidia GT 630 combined.1
- Save time when compressing and consolidating files - nearly twice as fast as a Core i3-2120!2

- Blazing fast computing from 384 AMD Radeon™ cores 2.0 featuring DirectX® 11 capable graphics.
- Immerse yourself in the awe of AMD HD3D gaming.
- Unlock all the control and performance of the 2nd generation AMD A-Series Processor when you select the overclockable Black Edition.

Great For Gamers on a Tight Budget!

Ive only had this a week or so and originayl wanted the 6800k but could only get it for 150 pounds here in Argentina so opted for this instead. I bought this along with an MSI A55M-E35 and 2x 4GB Ram@1600.
I tried using the one click OC genie on the MSI motherboard and it wouldnt work as the monitor said that the frequency was out of range of the monitor or some message like that. It did boot but there was nothing on the screen which was a bit of a disappointment. I have left it not overclocked for now. Mine did not come with any cooler and I had to buy the cheapest AMD cooler as my funds are very tight. For the first few days of use I had several lue Screen Crashes all with an error code stating "ATI Device" as the culprit. I assumed that this was the APU which was overheating, and then my HDD broke with the click of death sound and I took the whole thing back to the shop were I bought it. Now I have a new HDD but I lost all my life collection of Photos and 100GB of Karaoke songs!
All is working now with no more Blue Screens and compared with my old set up of Athlon 64 3200+ and 1GB PC3200 Ram, this thing is miles better. I can now open up a lot of windows without y PC going to a crawl and things are running a lot faster. games in particular are a lot smoother without any slowdown. I had a geforce7600GT before this, and although this is a lot better, its not massively better. yes it is smoother and can play most games on medium settings, but if you put something like battlefield 4 and try and play it, it will only work if all the settings are turned way down! If you play Flash Games, this thing really flies like a supersonic Jet and is great. If you want the latest games like Battlefield 4 however, you will need to invest further in a dedicated graphics card. For most users though, this will suffice for a couple of years if you can live with turning the graphics on the latest games down. For using windows applications, it is very good. Word 2013 runs !
very fast with this CPU. You tube videos have no stuttering and run very smoothly.

Nice chip

Got this slightly reduced due to being a B grade, and then them running out of B grade. Firstly I'm tempted to drop a star for the cooler, it really is rubbish, the noise from it is terrible. So if you're after one of these, purchase an aftermarket one. Performance with windows 8 is very fast, even with a traditional hard drive. I also run an i7 system, a render on my i7 that takes 14 seconds takes 16 on this AMD so it really isn't a bad little chip for the money

Seriously Impressed

Just finished my new build with this baby at the wheel.

I was sceptical about the on-board GPU but honestly it

Fantastic Value for Money

This CPU is fantastic value for money. Windows 7 64bit issues 7.3 without over-clocking. temps:- idle around 33C, load is 45C.

With 8Gb's of RAM
Firefox open with 10 - 12 tabs, VLC playing a film and steam updating in the background, 4 cores are running at 12%

Left4dead2 gives 40FPS @ 1920x1080 with everything on max and shaders on, but drops down to 33 ish when a load of zombies come running.

GTA4 will run at 1920x1080, but shaders must be put to medium and a mix bag of medium to high settings with medium draw distance, to get a playable framerate of 35-40 fps

BlackLight retribution will play at 1920x1080, at the same framerate with medium to high settings.

So overall this is a fantastic little chip, it munches through everyday Windows tasks with ease and gives an enjoyable gaming experience, which for me is fantastic value for money.

Great value for money

installed yesterday, windows rates 7.3 It idles at 35c 50c under load, but this would not be possible with the cheapo stock cooler

All my apps start and run quickly, windows also feels nippy.

1st game tested, with no overclocking was left4dead2 at 1920x1080 with everything on max. FRAPS says 40 FPS

So very impressed so far, especially, as my whole system has cost me less than
