Quadcore on a budget but better than bud

Want to build a desktop machine with four a core cpu on a budget? Then this cpu is ideal. At the moment you cannot beat AMD in the price/performance ratio stakes. I wanted to build a machine that could be used for general home use, including content creation for my course and browsing the net..but also occational gaming and video encoding. This cpu can encode a whole DVD to H.264 in about an hour or so averaging 30 fps. I'm happy with that level of performance. From the wall the whole PC uses about 90 watts, including monitor!!! This is just with the intergrated graphics chipset included on the motherboard mind. With a graphics card installed will use around 200 to 300 watts all together. Not bad for a desktop system. So if you want a reasonably powerful budget desktop system capable of multitasking then I highly recommend this cpu. It won't win benchmark awards but it is pleanty for the average user.

Good Cheap Upgrade

Used one of these to upgrade from a 7750, and it's made the machine much quieter - the benefits of 45nm Phenom II architecture running much cooler than the original Phenom core. Windows experience rating went up from 5.7 to 5.9 on stock voltage (the 7750 was running at 2.9). Would have preferred a proper Phenom II, but as it stands it's a bargain.
