4GHz and 2400MHz Overclock nice and stable

Can't moan about what you get here at all using an Asus EVO 2.0 990X motherboard I have managed get a stable 4GHz out of this processor with 2400MHz memory clock runs all my games on ultra with no problems and handles all my projects doing audio editing and using Unity with no problems whatsoever easily as good as my i5 in my laptop and at half the cost.

Great overclocker

Got this to replace my ageing 965BE. Paired her up with the 970A-DS3P and 8GB Avexir Core 1600mhz ram and she overclocks like a beauty. Straight from 3.9 to 4.5ghz stable but you will need a good cooler. I use a CM Seidon 120M and it cools the chip nicely. My old Freezer Pro 7 couldn't cut the mustard.

Great paired with an R9 280 as well xD

Really happy!

Bought this as an upgrade to my last chip, so I can play Planetside 2 and DayZ with a good frame rate..

I have to say, it blows it out of the water... Amazing power out of the box.
I bought this along side a GAMMAXX-S40 cooler and it runs smoothly idling at 25 degrees up to 48 on full load.

Very pleased with my purchase.. Another happy customer!

WOW!!

i upgraded from a 2008 core2quad q6600 g0 which was running at 3.4Ghz

the q6600 was really starting to hamper my gaming and on new games my 560Ti could only muster 50-60% load so in assassins creed black flag i was only managing 25 - 30fps now i can play with 40 -50fps even with physx on low and environment quality on maximum @ 99% gpu usage

really impressed overclocked to 4.5ghz with 1.4375v with a rajintek thermis cooler idle temps ~20c and 54c full load with prime95 after 2 hours!!

highly recommended oh and in the aida64 benchmarks it scores higher than the first generation i5/i7's and overclocked equals the performance of the 8350 in some situations even with 2 less cores :)

thanks overclockers

Excellent Performance!

This is a great CPU, and it stays relatively cool with the stock heatsink, I've only gotten up to 60C on full load, stock clocks.

It delivers great performance, and the 6 cores make a great treat for people who render things every now and then, and I get very good render times with Vegas. This is a part of my whole new PC, so I can't really compare it to anything, but a great buy, for a great price!

Great chip

Very very happy with this chip, although I had upgraded from a VERY old and mostly useless 9350e so its a big step.

coupled with a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD5, Asus 6970 and some XMS3 8GB 1600 it plays and does everything I have thrown at it so far without a hiccup, although I am only running it at 4ghz at the moment ive heard nothing but great things about this chip for overclocking and once I have myself the water cooling I want then I shall try pushing more.

One thing you should do which I failed to realise is order yourself a cooler with this chip, not because its runs too hot or anything but because the standard cooler that comes with this is utterly useless.

Originally this chip was a stepping stone till I got the 8350 but im REALLY happy with this and im not too bothered about getting the 8350 now, so buy it already!

-1 star because of the useless cooler they give you with it.

Zippy

Extremely pleased with this - it gobbles up everything thrown at it, and the price is exceptional. I was upgrading from my poor beleaguered E2140 which has been running at 3.2GHz for around 5 years or so, and it has exceeded my expectations.

One thing I will say, which is par for the course with premium processors I guess, is that the stock fan isn't really up to much if you want to overclock beyond ~3.8; it can get very noisy too if your motherboard has automatic turbo settings.

You might have more luck than me, I don't know. But I would really recommend getting an aftermarket cooler at the same time as you buy this if you're going to be aiming for clocks of ~4.4. I've stuck a Loki SD963 on mine, but I also understand the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo is a popular choice (don't forget your Arctic Silver past either!).

Surprisingly Good!

I bought this to upgrade my brothers PC from an old Phenom II X4 955 and the performance boost is quite noticeable! I then swapped out his old Radeon 6850 for a Radeon 7870 GHz edition (HIS 7870 IceQ X) and it runs perfectly with this CPU... No bottle-necking and great performance with the latest games (running @ 1080p).

This CPU is definitely a wise choice for a budget gaming system and you really can't complain about the low price either. Great service from OcUK as usual too :).

Cheers!

Very good CPU

5ghz would be hard push on most of these chips. 4.8 and 4.9 is more achievable below 1.5volts. Strange these chips, require a big jump in volts for 5ghz, anything over 4.8/4.9. If you can keep 1.55volts below 60c you can push over 5ghz.
Still I would say you can expect 4.75ghz + with a decent mobo with 99% + of these. Clock for Clock performance is about 10% more than a Phenom II, and with about + 25% clock speed achievable with overclocking you can get significant upgrade/performance boost. And with more core's, especially if your using them you can get very good results from these chips.

Overall, I use pretty much for gaming. Like mentioned, +25% on clock speed over a Phenom II and + 10% performance clock for clock this chip will not disappoint, will shine through in multi threaded apps aswell!

crazy powerfull

don't do anything else but buy it for the money! its well worth it and can easily get overclocked to 4/5 ghz

Better than you think!

I upgraded from a Phenom X4 970, which I had at 4GHZ. I was told on many of the forums that this would not outperform it, but at the same clockrate, I'm getting a definite 5-10 framerate increase. On my MSI 970A-G46, I currently have it at 4.40GHZ on an Arctic Freezer Pro Rev.2, and it's perfectly stable. I highly recommend this beast of a CPU!

Awesome

4.5ghz stable overclock using the cheapest parts available (was running at 5ghz but had cooling and voltage problems due to old parts). Cant fault the processor at all. Perfect buy for anyone on a budget.
