Exellent Chip for the money.

This chip is fantastic for the price and can easily be overclocked to the stock speeds of an 8350 and above with the right cooling.

What more can I say great price, fun to overclock and lots of power.

Bargain overclocker

Great overclocker , with better water cooling . im convinced i could get a stable 5GHz but my H80i just cant deal with the Heat after 4.8GHz , so running stable at 4.6GHz with a small bump in voltage , with a little still left under the hood .

I ran Prime95 for 45 minutes at 4.8GHz with a socket Temp of 67C but no core failures , just to close to the CPU thermal limits , so I backed off the overclock and started to enjoy .

You cant ignore Intel single thread performance but you also cant ignore this generation of console PC architecture and its multi threaded nature and that DirectX12 will give this CPU a real boost ( or help ) when running high end graphics .

in for the long game , i brought what i could afford , and im very happy to have this CPU as the hart of my System as it enabled me to put more money into my graphics

Great Chip

You can achieve 4.4GHz with no voltage change, but would recommend water cooling. I am using a Corsair H20, idle temps 29C. room 23C. Load test 100%, all 8 cores on prime max temp 61C after 3 hours. 60 fps easy to achieve, using gtx 650 ti boost, 8 gb vengeance pro 1866, 600W PS. Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 m/board. 250Gb SSD.(boot) storage via 1x1Tb,1x1.5Tb and 1x2Tb. System very stable. Highly recommend.

Simply wonderful

I waited until the release of the Piledriver chip before i built my current rig. I love this processor! I've overclocked to 4.2Ghz with no problems. Running a Hyper Evo 212+ Fan heat sink which is great for low temps, idles at lower than room temperature!

I am upgrading to a water cooled system in the next few days so i'll see what hat does to temps and performance.

I can 100% recommend this chip if you're looking for good performance and are on a small budget.

However, there are better Intel processors for gaming with higher clock speeds. I use my rig for a lot of image rendering and CAD software so 8 cores is perfect. Looking forward to the release of the 12 cores!

Overclocked to 4.8ghz with just a small bump in voltage, best overclocking chip I have ever owned.

Processor is good... but

So after thrashing this processor about a bit, I've come to one of 2 conclusions.

Running this processor stock (no overclocking) with a gigabyte 990FXA-UD7, and a Prolimatech Megahalems (oversized heatsink), on full load, the processor is hitting 60C. I Would have expected less to be perfectly honest. Either the heatsink isn't cutting it, or the processor is much too hot to cope with overclocking. Standard stock at ~3500MHZ, this is bordering the limit on the processor heat threshold.

If you want to overclock this, you need to have some SERIOUSLY good cooling, my oversized air cooler is NOT cutting it (AT STOCK, nevermind the 5000MHZ they advertise it can overclock to).

So, either my processor is running hot.... or the oversize heatsink isn't cutting it. I'm not sure which.

Unbeatable price

I was a bit tight on budget so Intel chips were a bit too pricey for me. Despite Piledriver being inferior to Ivybridge in some ways (the web is littered with Vishera reviews), I would say the price makes this CPU a great buy. For

Very Good Chip

Im happy with it, i went from bulldozer 4100 to this and the difference is huge. Using standard turbo clock boost to 4.1ghz and im running farcry 3 at 60fps on ultra along side my 680 lightning. To top this off the chip come with farcry 3, sleeping dogs and the new hitman. For

Great for VMs

Decided to look at AMD as I was on a limited budget to repair the home PC. I got the FX-8 8320 when it was on This Week Only so even better value.
I'm not a serious gamer but do sometimes need to run several VMs simultaneously. 8 cores in the 8320 makes a lot more sense than going i3 for what I need. With 16GB RAM ( another 16GB getting added later ) I've got plenty of headroom to run as many VMs as I need.

Glad I got AMD.

For those who want the quick information: This Processor is fast. It is very overclock friendly and I am glad I brought it.

I have been holding onto my aging Phenom II X4 955 for along time now and decided an upgrade was needed. When replacing it with this chip the speed increase was noticeable from the start.

Games in general ran much more smooth when it came to high physics environments, multiple players on screen and in general FPS stutters have disappeared.

Scored 7.9 on Win7 Index which is fantastic.

If like myself you are a fan of AMD and looking for the fastest chip they have to offer this for me is the one to have... It can be overclocked to match the 8350 or go even further.

It's nice to see AMD claw back some ground, get this chip. You wont be disappointed !
