The processor's integrated memory controller supports AM4 motherboards as well as fast and energy- efficient DDR4 RAM in dual-channel mode, as well as specialist ECC error-correcting memory depending on the motherboard. The advanced "Zen" microarchitecture in conjunction with the AM4 platform forms the perfect foundation for high-performance systems in a range of applications.
The Layout of the Micro-ATX ASRock A320M Pro4The ASRock A320M Pro4 is a motherboard utilising the micro-ATX format and comes with a lightning-fast 16x PCI-Express 3.0 slot. Furthermore a PCIe 2.0 slot with a 4x interface and a PCIe x1- interface slot are provided for compatibility with additional expansion cards. The four RAM slots accept up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM at a speed of 2.666 Megahertz. The range of internal connectors includes, among other things, two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 headers for a total of 4 ports.

Data storage devices such as SSDs and hard drives are managed via four SATA 6G connectors (incl. RAID support) as well as two horizontal M.2 slots, one of which comes with access to four PCI-Express 3.0 lanes and, consequently, extremely high access speeds of up to 32 Gbit/s. M.2 SSDs measuring from 42 mm to 110 mm in length can be used and furthermore the cutting-edge NVM-Express protocol is also supported. This protocol has been optimised to take advantage of the parallel processing utilised by modern PCIe SSDs.
A further highlight of the ASRock A320M Pro4 is to be found on the reverse of the motherboard, specifically the fact that the motherboard includes a USB 3.0 Type C connector. This new type of USB Type C port is particularly slim and allows connectors to be inserted in either direction. USB 3.0 or USB 3.1 Gen 1 can reach a maximum transfer rate of up to 5 Gbit/s per port.
The I/O shield located on the rear of the mainboard provides connectivity for additional devices and components via USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, PS/2 as well as three audio jacks for sound on the ASRock A320M Pro4. The motherboard also supports a total of three monitor outputs via the integrated APU/GPU including HDMI, VGA and DVI-D.
