The B450 chipset forms the centrepiece of the ASRock B450 Pro4 motherboard and has been specially developed and optimised for 2000- series (Pinnacle Ridge) Ryzen CPUs. B450 motherboards support all features of 2nd gen Ryzen processors, such as the AMD's new XFR2 overclocking. Additionally, the motherboards support up to 64 GB of RAM with a guaranteed clock frequency of 2.933 Megahertz. Overclocking to higher frequencies is also an option, although the increase will depend on the motherboard.

The Features of the ASRock B450 Pro4 in Detail:

The ASRock B450 Pro4 ATX motherboard offers a PCI-Express 3.0 slot with a full x16 lanes of connectivity for graphics cards as well as a PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slot x4 connectivity. For additional expansion cards, the motherboard offers PCIe x1 slots. The four RAM modules support up to 64 GB DDR4-RAM at a clock frequency of up to 2.933 MHz and this can be increased up to frequencies of 3.200 MHz via overclocking.

Furthermore there are two M.2 slots with PCIe connectivity thanks to the AM4 platform. M.2-SSDs utilise the advanced NVM-Express protocol (NVMe) and are connected via four PCI-Express 3.0 lanes and are up to eight times faster than traditional SATA 6G drives, supporting data transfer rates of up to 32 Gbit/s. One of the slots is connected via four PCI-Express Lanes and accepts drives up to 110 mm (22110), the other uses smaller 2280 M.2 drives and is connected via two lanes.

The ASRock B450 Pro4 offers a USB 3.1 Type C connector as well as a USB 3.1 Type A connection. The USB Type C port can be inserted in either orientation and is especially slim. USB 3.1 Gen 2 is capable of achieving speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s per port and USB ports supporting this standard are generally compatible with smartphones and tablets that offer fast charging. For CPUs with integrated graphics, like AMD's Raven Ridge APUs, the board offers an HDMI-, DisplayPort and a D-Sub connector.

In terms of special features, the ASRock B450 Pro4 offers ELNA Audio Capacitors for exceptionally clear onboard sound. Additionally the motherboard comes with two headers for static lighting and one header for RGB elements, along with robust power delivery for the installed CPU.
