Great board for legacy P4 chips

A Pentium 4 motherboard? In 2011? Sold as new? It certainly is. And if you have any spare P4 parts, this board is a good starting, given that it's near impossible to get new P4 boards (and CPUs) anymore.

For my most recent build, I used a spare P4 (Northwood core) at 2.8GHz, a Tagan TruePower 600W PSU, two sticks of Crucial 1GB DDR2 PC2-6400 modules, and a second-hand GeForce 8400GS (the PCIe 1.0 edition, though PCIe 2.x cards should work as well), sitting in a mostly-aluminium ATX tower case.

It's been built for a couple of weeks now, with an install of Vista Enterprise (SP2), and is working very well, with no trouble to report. You don't even need a PSU with a 24-pin ATX connector, a 20-pin will suffice (and the +12V connector is required, as usual!).

Overall, it works nicely, and I now have a very fast PC connected to my old CRT telly :-)
