The ASRock Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming ITX-ac in DetailThe ASRock Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming ITX-ac is a very well-featured mini-ITX motherboard with Intel's Z270 chipset offering compatibility with Intel's processors from the 6000 and 7000 series. This black- themed board comes with one PCIe x16 slot, which is connected to the chipset via 16 full lanes.
The motherboard provides DDR4 RAM compatibility over two DIMM slots for DDR4 RAM compatibility in ultra-fast dual-channel mode. The memory banks take up to 32 GB RAM and, depending on the processor installed, supports memory clocks of either 2.133 MHz (with Skylake CPUs) or 2.400 MHz (with Kaby Lake CPUs), while overclocking allows memory modules of up to 4.000 MHz to be used.
In order to connect the very fastest data storage devices, the board comes with a M.2 slot extreme NVMe M.2 SSDs, a SATA Express port as well as six SATA 6G ports for 3,5" or 2,5" hard drives and SSDs (including RAID support). The M.2 port is connected to the chipset via four PCIe lanes in the 3.0 standard and enables, when combined with the NVMe protocol, a data transfer rate of almost 4 GB/s. This means a M.2 PCIe SSD is up to eight times faster than a SATA 6G SSD!
The motherboard provides options for input devices and other peripherals on the I/O panel with a Thunderbolt 3 port as well as six USB 3.0 ports, of which one functions as a Fatal1ty mouse port for maximum performance of the mouse and lightning fast reaction times. Besides the Gigabit LAN port, the board is equipped with a WiFi module that even supports the ultra-fast ac-standard. If no graphics card is available then, thanks to the integrated GPU on a Skylake or Kaby Lake CPU, monitors can be connected directly to the rear of the board via HDMI and DisplayPort.
Internally the motherboard offers, among other things, a Chassis Intrusion header as well as a 4-pin CPU FAN header, a 4-pin header for PWM fans, a CPU FAN connector, a pump header, and a front panel audio connector.
