Z270 Gaming K6 Intel Z270 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX MotherboardWell-Equipped Z270 Motherboard (ATX), with 3× PCIe 3.0 x16 (x16/x8/x4), 2× USB 3.1 (1× Type A & 1× Type C), 2× M.2 (PCIe 3.0 x4), 8× USB 3.0 / 6× USB 2.0 / 8× SATA 6G, max. 64 GB RAM up to 3.866 MHz, LED Lighting + Aura RGB LED Header The ASRock Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming K6 is an ATX motherboard utilising Intel's Z270 chipset for Intel processors from the 6th ("Skylake") and 7th ("Kaby Lake") generations on socket LGA 1151. The chipsets from the 200 series, known as "Union Point", come with up to 24 PCIe Express 3.0 lanes and bring more overall HSIO lanes (High Speed I/O) as well, thereby enabling more internal connections (such as SATA or PCIe slots) to be used simultaneously. As a Z270 motherboard, the ASRock Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming K6 enables overclocking of K-series CPUs, which offer completely unlocked multipliers.
The Features of the ASRock Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming - An Overview:
- 3× PCIe (3.0) x16 (16/8/4) & 3× PCIe (3.0) x1
- 2× USB 3.1 (Type A & Type C / 6× USB 2.0 internal)
- 8x USB 3.0 (3× Type-A / 1× Fatal1ty Mouse Port / 4× internal)
- 2× M.2 (PCIe 3.0 x4) & 8× SATA 6G
- Supports up to 64 GB DDR4-RAM at 3.866 MHz
- LED Lighting + AURA RGB LED Header
- CPU Overclocking via Multiplier & Baseclock
The ASRock Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming K6 in DetailThe ASRock Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming K6 is a very well-featured ATX motherboard with Intel's Z270 chipset offering compatibility with Intel's processors from the 6000 and 7000 series. This black-themed board comes with three PCIe x16 slots, of which one comes with a full 16 lanes connected to the chipset, while the other PCIe x16 slots are connected electrically with four i.e. eight data links. For I/O and expansions cards the board provides three further PCIe x1 slots and supports NVIDIA's SLI as well as AMD's CrossFireX technology.
The motherboard provides DDR4 RAM compatibility over 4 DIMM slots in ultra-fast dual-channel mode. The memory banks take up to 64 GB RAM and, depending on the processor installed, supports memory clocks of either 2.133 MHz (with Skylake CPUs) or 2.400 MHz (with Kaby Lake CPUs), while overclocking allows memory modules of up to 3.866 MHz to be used.
In order to connect the very fastest data storage devices, the board comes with two M.2 slots for extreme NVMe M.2 SSDs, as well as eight SATA 6G ports for 3,5" or 2,5" hard drives and SSDs (including RAID support). The M.2 ports are connected via four PCIe lanes on the 3.0 standard to the chipset and, in combination with the NVMe protocol, enable a data transfer rate of almost 4 GB/s. This allows M.2 PCIe SSDs to function up to eight times faster than SATA 6G SSDs! Counting among the special features of the Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming K6 are the stylish LED lighting, an Aura RGB-LED header for LED strips, support for Intel Optane memory and the legendary Gaming Armor which lends the board an aggressive look.
The motherboard's I/O panel offers a new kind of USB 3.1 port, USB Type C, which is particularly thin and is finally able to be plugged in both ways. Besides the Type C port the motherboard also comes with a backwards compatible USB 3.1 Type A port. USB 3.1 ports can reach speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s, twice as fast as previous USB 3.0 ports! For input devices and other gaming peripherals the I/O panels comes with three further USB 3.0 ports as well as a Fatal1ty mouse port for maximum mouse performance.
If no graphics card is present, the integrated GPU on the Skylake or Kaby Lake CPU allows for monitors to be connected directly to the rear of the motherboard - HDMI, DVI and VGA ports are available for this purpose.
Internally the motherboard offers - among other functions - TPM and COM ports, Power LED and speaker headers as well as a 4-pin CPU FAN connector, two 4-pin headers for PWM fans, a 4-pin pump header, a front panel audio connector and two Thunderbolt AIC connectors (5-pin / 10-pin). Furthermore the board offers additional support options like Dr. Debug, Power switch, Reset switch and XMP switches directly on the board.
