PB287Q 28" 3840x2160 TN 4K 60Hz 1MS Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor - Black

Asus enter the price war with their gaming 28" 4k monitor, just like other models sporting an impressive specification with a fast response 1ms TN panel, 60Hz over DisplayPort. The Asus also has some innovations of its own such as a flicker free backlight to help reduce any flicker along with a fully adjustable stand.

Experience games in such detail and realism like never before at 4k resolution, just ensure you have the lastest graphics cards and ideally in multi-GPU configurations to get the best from your 4k panel.

Phenomenal Pixel-perfect Detail
Open your eyes to breathtaking levels of detail with the ASUS PB287Q True 4K ultra-high definition (4K UHD) monitor. The ASUS PB287Q features a 16:9 aspect ratio WLED display that delivers next-generation 4K UHD visuals, with resolution up to 3840 by 2160. With a pixel density of 157 pixels-per-inch (PPI), the PB287Q provides over 8 million pixels, four times the pixel density of standard Full HD displays for astonishingly detailed visuals – allowing you to experience more onscreen real estate and stunning image clarity that have to be seen to be believed. The PB287Q also delivers an impressive 1ms GTG fast response time and a 60Hz refresh rate for ultra-smooth gameplay.

When 4K Means Seeing and Doing Much More
With 300% more onscreen space than similar sized Full HD displays, the ASUS PB287Q gives you more space to spread out your various work windows for more productive multitasking. Capable of displaying 1.07 billion colors, the PB287Q delivers outstanding color reproduction and saturation thanks to its 330cd/m² brightness and a 100,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio (ASCR).

Everything You Need. Built Right In

You can also use the MHL with HDMI connection to view content from your mobile device on the PB287Q while simultaneously charging the mobile device.

One Display, Two Sources
Build-in Picture-in-Picture (PiP) and Picture-by-Picture (PbP) functionality let you view content from two different sources simultaneously, with the ability to switch video between sources easily. PiP mode places the second input source window in one corner of the display, while PbP mode splits the screen down the middle.

Excellent monitor, recommend.

Bought over a year ago, it's performed flawlessly for me from day 1; I play games from any and all genres and at no point have I been playing and felt like there was something wrong with the response time between a keyboard or mouse action and seeing it on the screen.
Whilst it's not going to win style awards it's got decent build quality that I'm pretty much used to by now from ASUS, the adjustable height, tilt and rotating base are useful features, though I can't say I've made use of the rotating screen.
Great monitor.

So I've had a lot of interest recently in moving to 4K and I'm glad I did!

4K is probably one of the best upgrades I've seen for Gaming and even watching media for a long time and experiencing it first hand just can't be explained in text or video reviews.

This monitor is fantastic quality for the value and has an abundance of features via the OSD of the display and the build quality in perfect. I upgraded from a 1080p Monitor which I purchased 3 years ago to this and I'm glad I bit the bullet and upgraded.

I've no bad comments to make on this monitor and if your looking for a great 4K experience at a reasonable price this is definitely for you!

Great Monitor

I bought this monitor to go 4K after upgrading from twin 27" Acer monitors. So far so good, I really like it.

This is being powered by an Asus Strix 1070 and although I don't have the best system, I get a steady 45-50 FPS on my small library of games maxed out @ 4K.

Really glad I decided to buy it, I was hesitating but took the plunge and am rather pleased.

Very easy to use UI, the preset Splendid modes are great, I normally use Standard mode. You have the option to have two inputs on the go at once, I only sit my Xbox One to check what my friends are doing.

One thing I did notice is that over HDMI this monitor only supports 30Hz so I was unable to use 4K with my console. 60Hz over Display Port so better to use with a PC.

Need another 1070 now as I have the 4K bug!

If you want 4k 60Hz, then this is the monitor for you!

I have owned this monitor for a year and 9 months. I brought it from Overclockers in the Christmas sales and was very pleased. At the time I was running a GTX770 and I was very surprised at how well it ran, especially at the amount of pixels (medium settings were giving 40-60fps). In the last 4 months I have been driving it with a GTX980ti. The experience has just got better. I can easily get 60fps in the full 4K/UHD resolution (not maxed out but as long as it looks good who cares). I am very please and have had no issues with this monitor since purchase (probably my best purchase to date!)

If you are unsure about buying this, You will not be disappointed. I like having more things on my screen and so higher ppi is brilliant. It is also a good size as it doesnt take over you desk and also makes everything smooth and sharp (unlike a 28inch 1080p monitor). I couldn't be more happy a year and a bit after my purchase. (also top service from Overclockers!)

Awesome monitor

I bought this monitor after reading through the reviews on this site and it certainly was the right decision, Thanks to the comments made in these reviews I was able to set up 4K @60Hz in a couple of button presses, and yes the UK power lead was in the bottom of the box, under the polystyrene.
Now it's installed the games have never looked so good.
Also fantastic service from Overclockers which is why I've been using them for over 9 years now.

Excellent 4K Monitor

Mr Glenn Alexander 2016-01-08

great monitor

I love this monitor , I have read all reviews and I am a little confused...
I have 3840 x 2160 at 60hz .
4k x 2k 3840 x 2160 only has 29 or 30hz, any way I can set 4k at 60hz? I have gtx 970.
otherwise great monitor, thx OCUK

Kevin Jardine 2016-01-04

Pixel Perfect

3840 x 2160 = 8294400 pixels. They are so small I cannot see them no matter how close I get.
I cannot (at this moment) ever see me looking in awe at another new monitor for a very long time. It is big, clear, sturdy, and doing the 60hz thing.
Others have pointed out, but it is worth repeating "use the Display port lead that comes with the monitor and adjust the settings using the monitor menu buttons. It took all of 2 minutes to do this, I am not an expert on graphics card but you do need this connector on your graphics card. (Mine GTX 780 Ti).

Worth every penny. Prompt delivery by Overclockers as always.

Go on treat yourself.

Awesome monitor

This monitor is awesome!, worth every dam penny! Playing games in 4k such as MGSTPP is amazing. the image and clarity is brilliant, also the reviews about this screen are total rubbish. a lot of people don't realize u need a display port cable to achieve 4k @ 60hz not a HDMI cable, switch to 1.2 on monitor settings and done simples. great service from OC!, box was mint and comes with 2 power cables, uk type was packed under polystyrene tho, poss why others have poss missed seeing it and buying another. peace out. :)

Pin Sharp !

Got this to compliment my Titan X also bought from OCUK and I have to say it really breathes new life into older games, Obviously you need the performance but with older games this isn't an issue.

Quality wise the monitor is fantastic, The panel is gorgeous, Coming from someone who mainly uses IPS panels I was actually hard pressed to tell that this was TN, Even the viewing angles are fantastic.

All in all 10/10 :)

AWESOME... but pain...

When I bought this monitor I was ecstatic... Until I hooked it up. I was getting 30Hz all the time... spent ages uninstalling all NVIDIA drivers (DDU) ... reinstalling them... I used multiple programs to try to boost the frequency up. After about 2 hours of "fiddling" I was casually going through the menu on the monitor for the nth time, completely bored witless. I found "DP" section. And in two seconds my ecstasy was relived.

If you have this problem go into MENU -> MENU -> System Setup -> DisplayPort Stream

I looked all over the internet. Not once did I find this. They were all moaning about NVIDIA being too lazy to update their drivers.

This is so much better than 1080 @ 24in

I have had this monitor for a couple of weeks now and I am very impressed with it. I used to have a 24in 60hz 1080p model from ASUS and this is so much better. The detail you can see is jay dropping. My only complaint is that you have to change the DisplayPort setting manually from 1.1 to 1.2 to get it to run at 60hz, otherwise this is better than my old one in every way.

There are a couple of points that I would make:

1. the internal seekers are as you would expect not fantastic and are a little tinny. But they are way better than on the old one.
2. It is big so consider this when buying.
3. Windows 7 is not designed for 4k and so you will have to use desktop scaling to deal with this to some extent. So I plan to move to Win 10 when it becomes available. Some programs are also not ready for this so can be a bit small. Also many older games that you may want to run at 4k do not have this as a setting.
4. This has VESA holes in it so I could mount it on my monitor arm.
5. Some people complain about the buttons on this but I find this way better than on the old monitor. Far more intuitive.
6. The DisplayPort cable that comes contrary to many reports does run the monitor at 4k 60hz. Note that you will need to use this to bring the monitor to full capability.
7. This monitor has the lower end 4k resolution (you are in good company if you did not realise there were two). This is the one that maintains the same picture ratio as 1080 and so no black bars when watching a 16:9 video. The other one provides 19:10 so it is this one that I would want anyway. Besides somehow 1080 videos appear to look better on this? Don't know what the deal with that is, but I like it :).

Asus PB287Q 28" 4K 60Hz 1MS Monitor and

Absolutely cracking. Picture quality is superb and possibly the best stand on a monitor ever. I'm not joking, the stand alone makes this monitor worth ever penny. Completely happy with this screen quality and its performance and the service and delivery from Overclockers. The only thing that was disappointing was the monitor shipped with a euro two pin mains cable instead of a British three pin. But after sending Overclockers an online message they replied apologizing for the inconvenience and posted out a replacement lead free of charge. Negative turned to a positive and Overclockers are my first stop.

Excellent All-rounder!

Excellent quality for a TN panel. By far the best I've used which I find is above average in every way, uniformity, colour, black level etc. Great for games and too my un-professional eye image quality is much better than any other TN I have used before and almost matches my IPS NEC panel. Obviously viewing angle is a little restricted but using the screen directly in front of you, this wont be a problem. Also Slight colour casting but not bad at all for the tech used.

Well worth the price if you are interested in getting a 4k monitor that offers the best value, this really is brilliant for the money.

*Just a little note in response to the last review - The menu system is a little awkward but once you press a menu button the button functions are then displayed on-screen.. You can even set two shortcuts, for example contrast and brightness. You then just have to press the allocated buttons to enter those options rather than navigate the menu system at all.

Amazing value

Incredible tech specs and quality for the money. Very happy with this and I feel I'm getting the most out of my hardware as it pushes my PCs to the limits. I've connected my Windows gaming PC, Mac Mini, work laptop and PS3 and they all look amazing at various different resolutions.

The drawbacks are:
No mini DisplayPort (hugely annoying as my PC, Mac and laptop all have mini displayports)
No USB connectivity (expect this as standard on monitors these days)
An additional, more accessible headphone out port on the monitor's side would have been nice
There are no labels for the menu buttons meaning you have to memorise them, although once you set your settings you could argue you won't need to use them again.

For these drawbacks it loses 1 star and I would have easily paid an extra few quid to have these additional features.

Top marks...

Love it, had it 2 days and just love it, coming from an IPS Screen I was worried but I am more than happy with the colours on this.

Positive Points in no particular order...
1. Desktop Screen Space (if you don't scale it or only scale it a little.
2. Colours.
3. Brightness
4. Flexibility (can be rotated on stand or Vesa mounted).
5. Response time, I am not a heavy FPS fan but play a little BF4, mostly racing sim's for me and I am happy with both.

Negative Points...
1. Realistically unless you use binoculars or screen scaling standard text on your desktop is hard to read.
2. Buttons are in an awkward position.
3. Menu system, it's ok in itself sure but combined with the button mess it's horrible.
4. Isn't ugly by any standards, but isn't pretty either.
5. ASUS Logo is on it's side when rotated! (LOL, all I could think of to round this one up to 5 too.

Simple put, great monitor, buy it, I want two more. :p

I got one of these and love it so much, I got a second one! saving up for a third.

I have this and it's great

So, I'll start by listing my PC spec running this screen, as not all machines (Graphics cards mainly) can power it at full 4K.

Windows 8.1 i7 (DC) 4790k 32gb Dual Ch DDR3 ram. Asus GTX750 Ti Graphics.

Firstly, you don't need loads of ram or the latest Core i7 to run this screen (I do video and GFX), but you do need a graphics card that can output Display Port 1.2 (1.2 to get 60Hz). DP v1.1 is fine but will be limited to 30Hz refresh rate.

The Linus Tech Tips (Youtube) review talks about the monitor in detail, so I won't cover old ground, but this really is a cracking monitor. Yes Windows does a reasonable job of scaling (Text ect... actually readable) but don't expect all your programs to scale as well. This simply means that some applications will look very small; perfectly usable but really small, which for some is the point of a 4K monitor.

The obvious thing to mention here is that the ASUS PB287Q is a blooming great 28" monitor with cracking resolution for not much more than lesser non-4K monitors.

Put simply, if you're even looking at 4K monitors, BUY IT!!! - Linus review!

Asus 4k quality product

it had taken me a while to decide to buy this monitor as i had 3x benq 120hz setup 5760x1080 res and the horror storys of massive hits in FPS while gameing put me off and the fact that the Asus PB287Q 4k monitor was only 60hz, but in the end i collapsed and had to have this, i am pleased and wonder why i waited so long , in the end the monitor runs all my games great , 4k youtube looks fantastic ,yes you will need a high end pc to get the best out of this ,but if you have its very nice indeed ,only downside to this monitor is text size in likes of steam and other things is a bit small but 4k is still very young and windows and other programs need time to catch up ,oh and as for viewing angles maybe its just me but i dont see alot of colour shift at all and Asus build quality is superb and colours look very good to me ,thats why i give this 5 stars.

Linus youtube review

Ugly, yet oh so beautiful

Contradiction in the title yet necessary. This 28'' monitor looks butt ugly, but as most PC peripherals we do not look at aesthetics. What it lacks in looks it more than makes up for in quality and versatility. With its stand you can rotate, life and pivot to many different angles and is steady built.

Being 4k it looks great, if using the correct PC. There is quite a bit of shine on the screen so best used in darker areas. Good colours and with 60mhz and 1ms response time its quite a joy to play on. With many different display options and tweaks to make movies, tv or general desktop use great.

The screen has speakers that are able to play though hdmi/DP but lets just say they are not the selling point of this screen.

The screen covered, the service of Overclockers was great. They did not have the screen in stock yet still got it out to me. It came with a sticker over the right corner of about 30cm and upon pulling it off leaves a god awfull sticky residue. Not sure if this was intended or used as a show model (I would surely hope not having paid the full price) but it is the exact same anyway.

I would highly recommend this screen for first time/entry users into the 4k market with a high end PC.

Highly recommended.

Have finally managed to get my hands on one of these after a long wait. The benefits compared to the Dell P2815Q are obvious, the 30Hz refresh rate on the Dell makes it unusable for serious CAD / graphic design as it's just too slow to keep up with the mouse movement and accuracy suffers as a result. The Asus P287Q cures this completely, the refresh rate and pixel response time make it excellent for gaming / CAD / graphic design. The image is as good as you'd expect from an Asus TN panel display. Overall it's excellent, highly recommended. Note that out of the box mine came set to DP1.1 which meant it wouldn't sync at 4k 60Hz, you have to enable DP1.2 manually from the menu system to allow it.

''however they did state that THIS IS NOT A GAMING MONITOR due to poor refresh rates thus meaning that it is ideal for desktop use''

That's incorrect. They were talking about other 4K's being limited to 30Hz and the fact that over HDMI you will be limited to 30Hz. Over Display port, this screen can do 60Hz which is perfect for PC desktop gaming.

Well PC Pro Were Impressed

I listened to a PC Pro Podcast with regard to this monitor and obviously they are very critical of the displays. There general comments were..... although they haven't compared many 4K monitors side by side, they felt that the quality of the picture was amazing and very sharp, however they did state that THIS IS NOT A GAMING MONITOR due to poor refresh rates thus meaning that it is ideal for desktop use. They mentioned that some colours maybe slightly off (blues and greens), which didn't appear noticeable to the eye, but was picked up with a technical test of measuring what a colour is and what is displayed on the screen (cant remember the technical name for this test). According to the team there, they felt that this isn't really relevant unless you are involved in the high end graphics or photo industry because most display units and printers do not represent the true colour of an image anyway.

Although I have no experience of using this monitor the guy reviewing it (who actually purchased it from Overclockers)seemed very technical seemed very impressed especial at this price! On his comments I will rate this 4 stars as a form of "referral rating".

The bad review is a lie

Check out linustechtips review. Shame on whoever done that cause it's basically given it a bad reputation before it's released
