Amazing performance, great quality, visual heaven

So I wanted to follow up and write a review of this monitor which I've now had for 3 years (bought mine in July, 2014).

This monitor remains one of the best purchases I've made and has outlasted my 780ti, my 980ti and still going strong with my 1080ti. I use mine for office work, watching movies and of course for playing games ranging from The Witcher 3 to WarGame to Ghostrecon and TombRaider and they all look great.

The responsiveness of the monitor, the ease of setup, the navigation menu and lightning fast refresh rate were world class 3 years ago and remain top class today. When I needed support with the monitor, ASUS were brilliant and I've been an ASUS fan ever since.

I will be getting the 4K IPS version of this from OCUK soon...

Great Monitor poor customer service from Asus!

Love the monitor, very happy with it until the PSU developed a fault after 8 months of use - Known issue with the 2015 build.

Asus promised to replace the PSU, filled out all the RMA forms, nothing. 2 weeks later contact Asus get some line about the RMA not being linked with my request.

Wait another week and chase, promised that they will contact the courier to contact me to replace the PSU, another week later nothing, chase again, get told that it's not a known issue and they probably won't replace just the PSU!

Ask why they've changed their answer and link them to their own forum where 100's of people have this exact issue.

Get more nonsense back from Asus, replied stating that their service is not good enough for such an expensive monitor. Now am promised that I can have a replacement PSU and it will be shipped out asap.

That was 11 days ago.

I am still waiting for a reply and a PSU!

****Please not this issue does not seem to persist with the new style 2016 PSU's with the new monitors***

If you have one from 2015, good luck!

Apart from the appalling customer service from Asus (they rival HP!) the monitor is great, if you buy one, make sure it's a late 2015/2016 one!

Good Monitor - Poor Build Quality

I bought this monitor and couldn't believe how good it was. As time went on my excitement faded. My brand new monitor that i paid good money for developed Dead Pixels, as a graphic designer and some slight OCD this was not acceptable so replacement was issued.

Second monitor came and i thought great amazing, but again after some use its flickering out of control and im unable to go above 60Hz.

I now have to sort out a 3rd replacement. this is unacceptable. What the hell is going on over at ASUS Build Department ?

I have a 19" Sony monitor that works as good as the day it was bought over 10 or 15 years ago. and has never had one single issue apart from some fingerprints and dust.

Buy with Caution, as most faults happen after the 28/30 day warranty.

Great monitor, poor PSU

As with the review before, just over 8 months old and the PSU has developed a small fault. You have to disconnect and reconnect to get the monitor to switch on.

That said, these are a snorting monitor, very pleased with it beyond the issue above.

Monitor is great, psu for it is not.

Had the monitor for about 8 months now. The monitor panel is great can`t fault it, however the power supply for the unit started failing about a month ago. Now Every time I turn my pc on I have to physically unplug the mains cable from the psu for 15-30 seconds and plug it back in, to make the monitor come alive. This is a common problem judging by numerous forums. So be aware guys.

Best of the best

Hello, after reading some very negative posts in the forums I felt I just had to do a little review.
I've had my Swift for six months now and it performs magnificently, flawlessly and it's awesome. I have never had any issues with this monitor and just looking at the edges of my screen as I'm typing this review with black border, the black is as black as the monitors slimline bezel, very impressive, just take a look at the black in the above pic, it really is that good.

You can change your refresh rate on the fly through 60, 120, 144Hz at the touch of a button, the G-sync is a game changer and works flawlessly with a red led indicator to let you know the monitor is in G-sync mode.

Really people, just read the ocuk product description because that is what you really get. All the negative feed back on this monitor is from just a few who have been unlucky and received faulty ones, you will always be reading negative comments on products that have been faulty and there will always be a few faulty ones whatever the product. I have seen people saying I'm after a new 144hz 1440p monitor but I wont go near the swift due to problems others are having, I say it is your loss, you are missing out on one of the best monitors money can buy.

If you're reading this then I'm guessing you're considering this monitor, well consider no longer, if you want a quality 1440p monitor then this will not disappoint, just buy it, fire it up and be prepared to be amazed, I was and after six months use I still look on in amazement. Oh, did I mention it's also 3D vision ready, I know it's not to every ones taste but it's a feature that's there and it's jaw dropping, give Trine 1,2 & 3 ago and you'll never want to play them again without 3D. Oh for christ sake just get it and enjoy.

Got myself 3 for these for my setup, the are brilliant can't really fault them, Assetto corsa great in triple screen running all high specs

Bad Quality Control From Asus

The monitor and it's functionality are both excellent but after 7 days mine developed a dead pixel and while it does come with OCUK's 28 day pixel policy due to work I cannot be without a monitor for 1 week straight ergo I am stuck with a

Outstanding !

Got this yesterday and I've been replaying so many games, Fantastic picture, I work with an IPS panel daily and this is damn close.

Best monitor I've ever owned, Period.

On a side note mine came without the UK plug as someone in the factory must have forgotten to put it in the box, OCUK sorted this out in minutes on the phone and sent me 1 out free of charge.

Awesome monitor awesome service from OCUK 11/10 !

Asus PG278Q ROG Swift 27

From a Samsung S27A950D i thought this would make a nice upgrade.
Allready running a gtx980 @1080p on the samsung @120Hz some games were a little hit and miss.
Now a doddle thanks to G-Sync now running 1440p and 144Hz no problems.

Amazing quality monitor and gret service from Overclockers.

Amazing upgrade from 1080p

Got this as a upgrade from a 24" 1080p and I will never go back to below 1440p, this monitor is amazing the picture is so clear and for anyone looking for a good update from 1080p and can afford it there is no better than this!

I have a single gtx 980 and it still runs all new games on max! G-sync is great as well

Highly recommend this to anyone

nice monitor

I bought this monitor after much debate on whether or not I wanted an upgrade from my 24" BenQ 120HZ XL gaming monitor. After many video reviews and constantly looking at this on here I decided to take the plunge.

Firstly, I have not seen a massive difference in performance from 120HZ to 144HZ, although I did expect this as its a small amount. Nor have I seen a great difference in games with G-Sync. Maybe this is because I have been used to playing games at 120HZ for a number of years already with decent spec graphics cards as whereby most people who have purchased this screen have been using a 60HZ monitor. If you are one of these people then you will see a great difference in your games with this monitor and playing on 144hz compared to 60, will be like never taking public transport again after passing your driving test.
If however you already play on a 120HZ screen and are debating about upgrading, then I wouldn't go for this as an upgrade considering its hefty price and small performance increase. Like I said, I haven't noticed much difference.

However, if you want the higher resolution and are a crazy mofo to pay out your ears for it (like me) then I would very much recommend this. I am currently using 2 X EVGA GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0 in SLI with this screen and believe me, games look amazing in 2560 x 1440 resolution. The extra few inches compared to my 24" BenQ does make all the difference which is another reason I wanted this monitor. Size does matter. All in all, if you use a 60HZ screen or are wanting to play games in 1440p then I would very much recommend this. 4 stars only because of the price tag!

amazing monitor

i brought this monitor from overclockers but the first one had a dead pixel so overclockers picked up it up and sent me replacement in very quick time, all i can say is wow what a monitor so smooth and the detail is amazing colors and blacks are stunning i cant fault this monitor no backlight bleed. i have owned allot of top high end monitors and this beets them all just buy it don't worry about dead pixels overclockers send you a replacement very quickly

multiscreen forget this monitor

Would have given this a 5 star but I have two 27" monitors but to enable G-SYNC on this monitor you have to play your game in full screen mode which means you do not get access to your second monitor bought this monitor to play World Of Warcraft (wod) and liked the access to a second monitor for info on raids I have tried to run warcraft in Full Windowed mode but the G-SYNC does not kick in.

The Gaming monitor that has is all.

Title says it all really. If you're looking for a 144hz monitor with an ultra fast response time, this is the best the market has to offer at the moment. Beats BenQ's offering hands down*, however the price is steep and this will understandably put some people off.

Does it have the viewing angle of an IPS panel? No, of course not. With that said, I've found the viewing angles, contrast and colour representation to be pretty damn good for a TN panel, certainly enough to please someone primarily interested in gaming. The OSD is a pleasure to use, G-Sync works without being obtrusive (it's just inherently better than V-Sync). It doesn't hurt that the monitor itself is gorgeous from a design standpoint. Other minor features such as the instant boot up time complete the package.

It loses one star for only having one input port, something which most G-Sync monitors seem to share, though notably not the offering from BenQ. This issue doesn't personally affect me, but might be a deal-breaker for others.

great monitor

had bought one these from an other supplier and it had a dead pixel, i sent it back got refund, ordered one from here got it next day plugged it up no dead pixels happy dayz

and a nice touch with if you have a dead pixel o/c will class it as fault and send out new one

thanks overclockers

Gaming Delight

I use IPS monitors in my job creating adverts & web graphics. I use the Swift at home for gaming & I gotta say its not a IPS but this has got to be the closest a TN has come IMO, just had to drop brightness a little out of the box and that was it colours are better than expected.. I have gone from a 47" 60hrz LED tv to this and Im more than happy. Im using a single MSI 970 to power it and for example, In BF4 i feel like im cheating with the 1ms 144hrz it has changed my gaming that much. I paid

A must have

This is on offer again and sadly I purchased this when the offer was off but despite that it is easily the best monitor I have had so much quality and that is probably due to the price but for me very much worth the money as everything looks amazing especially if oyu are a serious gamer and movie fan.

A good choice

One of the best monitor i bought. I cannot see so much of a angle difference as everyone is describing. G-Sync is amazing and the games are so smooth.

absolutely fantastic

in 3 words - oh my god. Yes it is expensive, yes it can be extremely annoying if it has even one dead pixel, although OC do say they will replace if it's the case.
I switched from a 24 inch, 60 hz monitor and I read reviews for over 2 months before I bought this one. What a difference. I was up and running very quickly with no issue. I used some values I found with a quick search to set the colours and off I went. I've been using it for 8 hours straight, watching 3d bluray movies and playing games in 3d, like aion and oh my god. The quality of the thing is unbelievable. Beautiful colours, extremely responsive. Make sure you use a good graphics card though. I bought a MSI GTX 970 from OC as well, to handle the huge resolution.

Best monitor I've owned !

Serious this is one hell of a great monitor! I was a bit nervous in going with a tn monitor as I've always had ips,but for a tn panel the colours are great and the viewing angles are much better than all other tn panels from what ive seen. The build quality is top notch and it looks like a beast, now the best bit, running any game at 144hz 2560x1440 with g sync on is next level stuff, I was surprised how smooth everything looks!!! My old monitor was a qnix 2560x1440 ips that overclocked to 120hz which was great, but this blows it out of the water...........GET ONE,forget 4k 60hz small text and icons this is definitely the sweet spot. 10/10

Very good

Its a little too expensive but the performance is very good indeed. I went from a single AMD 290x and Benq 144Hz 1080p monitor to this monitor and Nvidia 970SLI and found a large increase in quality of picture with the 1440p and smoothness at lower frame rates (Crysis 3 maxed out is still down to sub 40fps sometimes) thanks to the GSync. Its better than the Benq in terms of colour, the interface is easier to use and its nice and smooth. I found the colours to be ok out the box and it was a little too bright. Much easier than the Benq to get looking decent. Settings can be found online for this monitor too.
Personally I think 4k is overkill for gaming but 1440p is awesome. Love this monitor but I wish it was under

Nothing Special

I'm clearly in the minority here but I really didn't think this monitor was anything special. In fact I actually sent it back and swapped it. If playing games is your only priority then this monitor is really nice, very smooth. Although gSync didn't seem to make much difference to my eyes.

I just wasn't prepared to sacrifice everything else for a good gaming experience. Even simple things like watching YouTube it was very poor. The screen is really poor off angle, things looking very black. I was having to drag my web browser window to the lower half of the screen to get a clear picture when viewing YouTube videos. Not something I was prepared to do with a

Very good but not perfect

First off I'd like to say i have had this screen since mid September and have been using it extensively and this is my thoughts so far...

I previously used a 23" Alienware AW2310 120hz screen and was sceptical about the improvement in image and motion clarity and without going into it to much i can say its well worth it, huge improvement in both aspects.

However the reason i am giving this screen 4 stars is due to the driver issues (mostly solved now) as some still remain, such as going afk and allowing the screen to go into standby seems to mess up the gsync sometimes and it wont run properly when in game and also a strange flickering often seen in loading screen again with gsync enabled.

Also the 2nd reason it gets 4 stars is due to the screen itself not being perfect for the price, there is a slight back light bleed on the bottom right corner of my unit. Often hard to even notice but for the price.....

Overall I am very happy with my purchase and OCuk was very helpful in getting my borderlands key code sorted as initially i did not receive one for the promotion running in September.

144Hz makes everything look amazing. My 60Hz desktop on my other monitor looks stuttery by comparison. Everything's just so smooth and fluid, it's somewhat surreal. It's not an IPS, but for a TN panel it's pretty good color-wise (though obviously the matte screen lets it down in this regard); it'd definitely make the perfect companion to a quality IPS panel though. 1440p is also an impressive amount of vertical screenspace, so don't worry if you're upgrading from 1920x1200.

A True Paradigm shift and soooo easy on

I have to say I love this monitor and while I won't go into the technical details of the monitor (there are excellent reviews at TFT and on the OCUK forums), I love using this monitor. It takes pride of place in my set up and when you think about which parts of your computer you interact with the most, the monitor has to be near the top of that list. My PC cost well over

Brilliant and complete!

This 1ms GTG / G-Sync monitor is - so far - the best on the market. Totally 'plug-and-play' and complete with all the necessary cables included. It does need a slight color-adjustment, but that's just a few clicks away. Excellent product.

A massive disappointment (for IPS owners

I just could not get this monitor looking good, even using a Spyder4Pro to calibrate it.
Ok, so my other monitor is a Dell U2713H wide gamut IPS panel. I didn't expect a TN panel to be as good, but even so, the PG278Q was very disappointing. Over-bright, under-contrast, colour-casted. Turn down the brightness enough the make the blacks even near black and all the detail and contrast is gone. Turn up the contrast and the whites are blown out. Correct the colour (reducing red and green is as subtle as you can be) and all the vibrancy is gone.
Maybe this is just what TN panels are like, but, for me, at this price even a TN panel should be better.
The G-Sync was good (though not startling) in BF4, but I couldn't forgive the bad picture when my Dell is still fast (though obviously not as fast) and is cheaper and much better image-wise.
I'm looking forward to when they manage to get G-Sync into an IPS monitor. Until then: no thanks.

" The game has changed "

This monitor has to be one of the best if not the best innovative products to hit the gaming market for at least the past 5 years. Really impressive from upgrading from a Alienware Aw2310 120Hz 23" 1080p to this beast of a monitor.
The fuss about the ROG SWIFT is rightly justified. Batman A.C. I am able to get with G-SYNC enabled between 40 to nearly 60 using fraps with 2 EVGA GTX 770 2GB in SLI and using GeForce Experience recommend settings no tweaking on my part in glorious WQHD Resolution and a blistering refresh & 144Hz.Using a 3D Vision 1 kit and setting up FIFA14 on this panel enabling ULMB at 120Hz at the native resolution puts my former monitor to shame ghosting and crosstalk dramatically eliminated and the depth perception quality even outperforms my Panasonic Viera 3D Set.

One observation of note is that on some video reviews on YouTube shows that the "LIGHT IN MOTION" red led on the panel base pulsates/breathes every 5 Seconds ...after a lot of head scratching this feature only happens if the monitor or rig is in standby mode and not when the monitor is active as the reviews showed....just sayin'

ASUS and Nvidia has nailed it with the Asus ROG SWIFT and this is a genuine game changer.
You will not regret buying this, however you will if you pass up on it.

Disposable income/10

I sold my house to buy this. I do not regret it. 10/10

G-Sync at 144hz Simply Amazing

What a Monitor!

Very premium in quality and very stylish.

Previously had an ASUS PB278Q and used along side a GTX780Ti. I would get very bad screen tear with V-Sync off and when I enabled it I would get noticeable stutter which made the whole game experience poor.

The difference with this monitor is immediately noticeable and gameplay is silky smooth now with no problems at all when framerates start to Fluctuate. The G-Sync Demo shows this really clearly and you need to see it in person rather than watching it on video as this does not give a true representation.

The difference really is like night and day.

The one small trade off is the colours are not as refined as my previous PLS panel and look slightly washed out by comparison. After some tweaking I have managed to get the setup close to the PLS and very happy with it. Thios is to be expected when using a TN panel. As far as the viewing angles go.......I sit directly in front of the monitor so this is not an issue.

Even with the trade off, I have given this a 5 star overall as you are buying a TN panel monitor so the colours are obviously not in the same league as IPS or PLS panels but still very good with a bit of tweaking.

For Gaming there really is no better option at this time.

This monitor is brilliant. I play mainly FPS games and having this resolution, refresh rate and g-sync has made game play so much better. It makes those frame rate drops that you get in BF4 a thousand times better. I am yet to see even a single screen tear and I have had this beast for around a month now. Bear in mind I'm using a 780ti which is needed to drive that crazy resolution with decent graphics settings. You'll need a powerful GPU to make use off the 144Hz. For those who aren't sure about TN panels I have to say this is by far the best TN I have ever used. Colours are really vivid and viewing angles are really good. It's no IPS but when playing games the 144Hz refresh and g-sync far outweigh the benefits of IPS. Also the ULMB feature is awesome for older games where you get consistently high frame rates and therefore don't need g-sync on. Can't recommend this enough

Best Monitor Ever!!!

Got this delivered yesterday morning and spent the whole day in awe of how sexy it looked, then I eventually got round to actually turning it on and playing games. Simply put, OMG!!! This is sharp, smooth and makes your existing games pop so much if you've come from 1080p at 60Hz.

From the menu navigation buttons to the base of the stand, everything screams quality from the get go. Considering 2 more for surround gaming, but that would require 2 more GPU's as it only takes 1 display port input but hey, any excuse to upgrade right :)

Overclockers did an amazing job answering all my pre-purchase queries too, thanks guys (my nephew said thanks for the sweets too)

Gaming evolution

In short simply amazing. FPS gaming has never been better, seriously recommend!
