The ASUS Prime X370-PRO is a motherboard utilising the ATX format and comes with two fast PCI-Express 3.0 slots, one of which utilises a full 16 lanes and the other supporting 8. Furthermore the board comes with a PCIe 2.0 x4 slot as well as three PCIe 2.0 x1 slots for additional expansion cards. The four RAM slots accept up to 64 GB of RAM at a speed of up to 2.666 Megahertz. The range of internal connections includes a header for USB 3.0 and two headers for USB 2.0 making for two and four ports respectively. A USB 3.1 header is also available for an additional USB 3.1 port.

Data storage devices like SSDs and hard drives are managed via eight SATA 6G connectors (incl. RAID support) as well as a horizontal M.2 slot which is connected via four PCI-Express 3.0 lanes thereby allowing extremely high speeds of up to 32 Gbit/s. M.2 SSDs measuring from 42 to 110 mm in length can be used and furthermore the takes advantage of the cutting-edge NVM-Express protocol which has been optimised for modern PCIe-SSDs

A further highlight of the ASUS Prime X370-PRO is to be found on the reverse of the motherboards, specifically the fact that the motherboard includes a USB 3.0 port with a Type C jack and two USB 3.1 ports with the Type A jack. The new kind of USB Type C is particularly slim and allows connectors to be inserted in either direction. USB 3.1 or USB 3.1 Gen 2 can reach speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s per port. One unique feature includes the integrated ASUS "Aura" RGB-LED lighting that provides lighting effects on the I/O cover as well as the chipset heatsink, enabling even customisable effects in a multitude of colours that can be controlled by software.

Last but not least the motherboard provides connectivity for four 4-pin PWM fans as well as two pumps for water cooling connected directly to the board. An I/O shield is located on the rear of the motherboard to provide access to further devices and components via USB 3.1, 3.0 and 2.0, Gigabit LAN, universe PS/2 or 5 audio jacks for connecting 7.1 surround sound to the ASUS Prime X370-PRO. Display output is supported via the integrated APU-GPU (optional) with two monitor outputs: HDMI and DisplayPort.

Great board, few small issues

Feature packed board and getting my kit to 3200Mhz wasn't an issue, albeit my kit is Single Rank Samsung B-die, which seems to be ideal for Ryzen.
The Prime also has the best VRM for its price, it uses an ASUS branded IR controller with TI NexFETs and IR drivers. CPU VCC should be rated for 90% efficiency at 150A (heavily OCed Ryzen only gets up to 100A) and a maximum of 240A. Voltage stability is also very good, with some tweaking.
Small issues I've found is that the BIOS in general is fairly immature, it's lacking a lot of settings, my GPU is stuck at PCIE 3.0 X8 and there's no setting for PCIE link speed in the BIOS. The ASUS utilities are fairly meh too.
A big issue that seems to affect people is that ASUS EZ Update Windows app will freeze while flashing a BIOS file, I recommend that YOU DO NOT USE THE WINDOWS APP TO UPDATE BIOS!
Luckily you can update the BIOS via EZ Flash in BIOS, which should be issue free. But if you do brick your board, I would like to point out that Asus has CrashFree, which will unbrick your board if you failed a BIOS update or the BIOS became corrupted, all you need to do is put a BIOS file on an USB stick and the utility will kick in.
I've seen a lot of bad reviews on this board from people who bricked it via a BIOS update, and sadly a lot of them haven't read the manual and don't know about the CrashFree option.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with this board, it's feature pack for the price and it's stable even with the somewhat immature BIOS it has.

Build well but bricked after a day

Motherboard was great for the first day. Had a few ram speed issues, so I could only run my 3866mhz kit at 2400, but this was expected as the platform is very new.
I got my ryzen 7 1800x to 4.1ghz without any real issues and the VRM stays cool even with the 8 core cpu at 1.45v under full load.
The issue with the board is a bug which has caused the board to brick itself. The board does not have dual bios, post reader or a clear cmos button making it very hard to fix and trouble shoot.
The build quality seems OK, the VRM heatsinks are functional and are screwed in and don't use push pins which is great. The pcie clips feel cheap and rubbish, but Asus use the same pcie clips on the rampage V extreme edition 10 so it's not just a problem with this board.
The lack of basic post reader and cmos clear button are the biggest problem with this board, so I can't recommend it right now.
