WHAT IS DOKO?
DOKO is a low latency (50-80ms), 1080p 30 FPS PC streaming device that brings you the full functionality of your PC, anywhere in your home. It's an effortless way to sit back in the comfort of your living room and use your computer on the big screen.
HOW DOES DOKO WORK?
DOKO connects to your router via a gigabit Ethernet connection. Once connected to the network, DOKO will allow you to use any computer on the network that is running the DOKO sender software (downloaded for free at NZXT's website).
WHAT MAKES DOKO SPECIAL?
There are actually a few devices out there that try to do what DOKO does. And they've all been out for quite some time now. However, they are all limited in their own way. DOKO is special because of two things. First and foremost performance. Performance with DOKO is great enough to bring a completely new gaming experience to the living room. It's a simple, affordable way to enjoy PC games in the comfort of your living room. Other screen mirroring devices and technologies just aren't fast enough to do this.
The second thing that makes DOKO unique is that it has its own USB ports. Unlike all of the other streaming or mirroring technologies out there, DOKO comes with 4 of its own USB ports utilizing USBoverIP technology. With this technology, plugging a USB device into DOKO is just like plugging that USB device into the PC that is being streamed, no matter how far away. This gives users the freedom to use the input devices they are already used to. They don't have to learn how to use any new controllers or remotes, they just plug in whatever USB devices they already own and DOKO just works.
WHAT TELEVISIONS CAN DOKO SUPPORT?
DOKO requires a 1080p television with an available HDMI port. While lower resolution televisions may work, users may experience a loss in video quality and scaling issues. DOKO does not currently support higher resolution televisions.
DOES DOKO HAVE BUILT-IN WIFI?
DOKO does not have built-in wifi. NZXT recommends a direct, gigabit connection to the network for optimal performance. DOKO does support alternative third-party Ethernet solutions such as a wireless Ethernet bridge or a powerline adapter. However, NZXT does not recommend these methods unless a reliable, high throughput network can be established.
CAN I WATCH HULU/NETFLIX WITH DOKO?
Yes! Think of DOKO as an extension of your PC. If your PC can watch it, so can DOKO. This makes DOKO the ultimate media center. You are not restricted by a limited number of "apps" or "channels" that you might be when enjoying media with a smart TV or modern set-top box such as ROKU or Apple TV. Just fire up an internet browser and stream whatever content you'd like.
HOW DOES PC GAMING WITH DOKO COMPARE TO STEAM IN-HOME STREAMING?
While Steam's in-home streaming offers very impressive performance, the problem is that it requires two computers. The source computer, probably the powerful computer in your bedroom or office, and a second computer a smaller form factor computer in the living room. DOKO takes a different approach by allowing you to just use that one powerful computer in your living room. No need to purchase or build another one.
Steam OS' streaming is also limited to games that are available on Steam. DOKO allows you to play any game that your computer can play. For example, if you were in the mood for some old school gaming you could play a Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis emulator. You could play a game on Origin or Ubisoft's U-play. You could play a game that isn't tied to any of those platforms, like a game from Blizzard or any other developer. DOKO is not restricted to any proprietary platforms. If your PC can play it, so can DOKO.
HOW DOES PC GAMING WITH DOKO COMPARE TO NVIDIA PC GAME STREAMING?
PC game streaming with Nvidia's SHIELD is another great performing solution. Unfortunately, it is even more limited than Steam's. First, the source computer has to have a GeForce GTX graphics card. Which means that anybody who is using an AMD Radeon graphics card is left out completely. Second, although there is support for most popular PC games the whole list of supported titles is small in comparison to the Steam library and even smaller in comparison to what DOKO can support.
The other problem is the limitation on input devices. There aren't any USB ports available with Nvidia's devices. Users are restricted to either use the official Nvidia SHIELD controller or another supported bluetooth device. DOKO gives more flexibility by allowing you to just plug in the USB input devices you already own.
WHICH USB DEVICES CAN I PLUG INTO DOKO?
Currently, DOKO supports most USB storage devices, plug-n-play keyboards/mice, wireless keyboards/mice and the official Xbox 360 wired and wireless controller. Additional USB devices m
