The Leadex range marks the manufacturer's successful entrance into the high-end segment. With outstanding performance and low noise levels, the Leadex family has set the bar for performance power supplies since the end of 2013. The new Leadex III ARGB Gold series from Super Flower represents an innovative addition to their product range, adding addressable RGB-LED lighting to their range of fully-modular 80 PLUS Gold power supplies.

Low Noise Thanks to Semi-Passive ModeIt is reassuring to know that, humming away beneath the hood of all Leadex power supplies rated between 550 and 850 Watts, is the same tried-and-tested Leadex III platform - all designed and built in-house. In comparison to its predecessors, the volume of the fan and as a result the overall noise produced by the unit has undergone an impressive reduction, this is due to the implementation of fluid dynamic bearing fans. The switch on the rear of the unit allows it to switch between two different cooling modes.
Due to the low fan speeds and the use of FDB technology, the power supply remains - even when active cooling is engaged, remarkably quiet in comparison to traditional ball bearing-style fans. The smoother functioning also allows the overall lifespan of the fan to increase as well.
High Efficiency & Independent Voltage RegulationAll Leadex III Gold power supplies are 80 PLUS Gold-certified, as such they achieve a minimum of 92 percent efficiency at medium load. Under low loads of 20 percent, 90 percent efficiency is maintained, and under full load a respectable 89 percent. As a result, Leadex's third-gen power supplies have more than earned their place in the pantheon of economical and efficient units.
In order to achieve this high degree of operating efficiency, Super Flower opts for only the most cutting-edge technology: the Leadex III platform, as did its predecessors, the best quality LLC resonance converters and DC-DC down regulation for the +3.3- and +5 Volt rails. Due to this type of independent voltage regulation, the voltages output from the unit remain stable even under challenging scenarios (e.g. asymmetric loading). The unit is even capable of delivering the full rated output on the +12 Volt rail if necessary. In combination with the low ripple, Leadex III have positioned themselves as the ideal option for demanding configurations and overclocking projects.
Modern Tech and Premium PartsThe choice of semiconductors and capacitors shows Super Flower putting a clear emphasis on quality: That's why the primary board uses Japanese-brand electrolytic capacitors rated for 105 degrees along with polymer electrolytic capacitors. The circuit board responsible for the modular cable management are also A-grade 105 degree Taiwanese capacitors. In combination with the smart fan control and the durable FDB fan, the unit manages to achieve an expected operating life of greater than 100,000 hours. With over- and undervoltage protection (OVP, UVP), short circuit (SCP), overload (OPP), overheating (OTP) and overcurrent (OCP on +3.3- and +5-volt rails), the Leadex III always switches off in an emergency to protect valuable hardware (and itself) from damage. As a result, the choice for Super Flower to offer a full seven-year manufacturer's warranty on all models in the Leadex III series was an easy one.
As with all other Leadex power supplies, Super Flower relies on fully modular cable management and completely black cables. Only the wiring harnesses that are actually needed are connected to the power supply. The 850 Watt model offered here already has extensive power options: In addition to the 20+4-pin connector for the motherboard, two 4+4-pin connectors are available for the processor and a total of six 6+2-Pin PCIe connectors for the graphics cards. The other components are supplied with nine SATA- and four Molex connectors if needed.
In short: The third generation Super Flower Leadex is even more economical and quiet than its predecessor. The new edition delivers even better voltages and managed to impress us with new features and the extended warranty period of seven years.
Stylish RGB-LED lightingThe Super Flower Leadex III ARGB Gold power supplies offer extensive RGB lighting that radiates through the fan openings and the transparent connectors of the power supply. It offers a total of 16 lighting modes, which can be selected via a button on the power supply. Synchronization with compatible motherboards from ASUS, Gigabyte, ASRock and MSI is also possible. The power supply is connected to a digital 3-pin RGB header (5V) of the motherboard.
