The perfect case for a compact but stora

I bought this case last September and only just realised I had never reviewed it.

I wanted to build a server with room for plenty of disks, but I wanted it to be relatively compact so it wouldn't take up too much space in my office. This case was the perfect choice for me and I use it as a SQL server / Media server box.

So if you want to build a machine with a lot of storage but want it to be compact, this could be just what you are looking for.

Amazing

I'm sure anyone reading this knows all about this case already but I will say it lives up to the reputation! Very strong and well built, looks beautiful and the amount of space and different ways it can be used is unbelievable! Couldn't recommend enough. Can't wait to finish building it!

I love this case!

I plumped for this case for my very first build, slightly hesitantly, due to the mini-itx form factor. I needn't have worried, it was an absolute joy to build.

Just a quick response to something said in another review - the system is modular, meaning it offers a range of builds, but this doesn't mean they are all simultaneously available! That would mean a big honking tower! In short, this is a perfect gaming rig if you fancy a mini mobo, and my HIS HD 7850 IceQ X 2048MB GDDR5 sat very nicely inside, too. I can't recommend highly enough for a newbie builder.

Top & Bottom Rails

It should be noted that the top and bottom rails are made of thin plastic. The mountings for these broke in transit for me. I had to adapt to get around the problem because the layout is very good. Will take a full size CPU heat sink with 120mm fan.

Great

Had an Antec 1200 before this. Put an Asus Z77-I Deluxe, Corsair HX620 PSU, GTX 670 GPU, 3 2TB Hard Disks, Intel 3570K and my temps went from 42 CPU to 32CPU and no performance loss. Best looking case I have seen so far and the build quality is great. Only thing I have to say to improve it could be aluminium handles, I/O on the front, motherboard mounted in reverse so you can see the board/heatsink with the GPU behind it.

The fibreflex handles seem pretty strong and I carried this case half a mile with them.

Also great service from OCUK super fast delivery!

Great looking case but a few drawbacks

Although an amazing looking case I had to make many compromises whilst building in it.

First of all you can't use the 5.25 bay if you have a double rad / 2 fans on the top. Also you may have trouble fitting a 230mm fan in the front as the front I/O panel circuit board can protrude a bit so you may need to orientate your fan which isn't that big of a deal. PSU wise 150x150 is probably the biggest that's going to fit in there.

The last little, well rather big thing, about the case is that the soft touch plastic parts (the curved stands on the top and bottom) whilst being rigid themselves, the way they are secured is not. They've completely broken for me and no longer stay in position or take the weight of the case that well. I will probably fix this with super glue or something!

Those things aside it is a great case, especially for the form factor. I've managed to get a Corsair H100 and a GTX 690 in there. With a little patience great builds can be done with this case!

Awesome but........

This product is beautiful and very versatile but please be aware about a few things.

1) if you want to use an H100 or H80 you WILL loose the use of the ODD tray i think you MIGHT be able to use an antec kulher 920 and keep the tray.
2) if you want to use the ODD tray you will not be able to have two 120mm fans on the front or on the top so you will be better off getting a 230mm fan for the front.
3) you WILL need a fully modular PSU, although this case can use an ATX PSU the space is minimal.
4) the stock fans run @ 800RPM max so if your looking for serious cooling then you will need to change the fans, i have 5 Bitfenix fans in my case because they are very quiet :)

over all i love my case, not having my ODD tray is no big i as i have an external drive.

buy it!!!!!

This case is amazing! Bitfenix have done a fabalous job with this chassis, perfect for anyone with a mini-itx motherboard, gamers and video editers alike!

I have the ASUS P8Z77-ITX DELUXE and this case is perfect for the job. The Intel 3570K cooled by the corsair H100 for maximum overclocking capability also make an apperance in this brilliant piece of engineering.

It has room for a GTX 690 if you really wanted to go crazy and even space for a 240mm rad if you wanted to go really really crazy and water cool it!

I would reccomend this item to anyone wanting to build anything from a home theatre to a fully fleged water cooled gaming pc due to its compact size and immense versatility.
