The Gameplay
Transport to the ruthless planet Kairos and play as one of four Vault Hunters in Borderlands 4. Trapped under the oppressive rule of the Timekeeper, the planet’s inhabitants are controlled by implanted cybernetic ‘bolts’ which allow him to observe and even kill the population at will. After a world-altering catastrophe threatens his Order, causing widespread chaos and destruction, join the growing resistance against the Timekeeper and break free from his regime.
As a Vault Hunter, scavenge through alien vaults and search for precious loot as you navigate a sprawling world that is divided. Choose from four playable Vault Hunters, each boasting their own arsenal of skills and weaponry. Both of which are sure to prove advantageous as you take down hordes of enemies, dealing death in every direction.
Hone your abilities via the branching skill trees as you fine-tune your character to perfectly suit your playstyle and deliver devastating Action Skills against your enemies. Plenty of rewarding loot means you can easily level up your arsenal and equip yourself with powerful gear, giving you that all-important competitive edge.
The world is dangerous and rife with warring factions. The landscape is split into large interconnected zones that feature a unique environment, engaging side quests, plenty of challenges, and lots of unforgettable characters for you to meet. All of which you can explore without sitting through endless loading screens!
New Characters & Classes
There are four new playable Vault Hunters in Borderlands 4.
- Amon – The Foreknight. A warrior and the only survivor of the Vault Monster attack on a worshipping cult.
- Harlowe – The Gravitar. Former Mailwan combat scientist who brings new tech and gadgetry to the battlefield.
- Rafa – The Exo-Soldier. Ex-Tediore Soldier who can digi-struct weapons with his Exoskeleton.
- Vex – The Siren. A siren who channels her powers to cast phase energy or to summon companions.
Does Borderlands 4 Include Multiplayer?
While wreaking chaos across Kairos is fun in single-player, Borderlands 4 also allows you to team up with up to four friends in the dedicated online co-op mode. Individual difficulty means each player can tailor the gameplay to suit their playstyle and skill set.
Plus, support for crossplay means you can play together with friends regardless of their platform of choice*. The PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X/S editions will include both online co-op and 2-player split-screen couch co-op.
*Nintendo Switch 2 excluded. Crossplay is only supported on PC, PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series X/S.
