How to Screenshot on a Laptop

Whether you want to capture your favourite in-game moment or your latest design, knowing how to screenshot on your gaming laptop is an extremely useful trick.

Thankfully, we’ve put together this guide detailing all the different ways you can take a screenshot on a laptop.

Laptop Keyboard Shortcuts:

One of the quickest ways to take a screenshot on a gaming laptop is via the keyboard shortcuts.

If you want to take a screenshot of your entire screen, press Print Screen (PrtSc). Your entire screen will be captured and automatically copied to your Windows clipboard. You can then choose to paste your screenshot in Paint, Microsoft Word, or practically anywhere else for that matter.

Alternatively, if you want to take a screenshot of an active window, you will need to select the window you wish to capture, and then press Alt+PrtScn. Your screenshot will then be automatically copied to your Windows clipboard, which you can then paste into your chosen app.

The Game Bar:

Every Windows laptop comes equipped with the built-in Game Bar feature. You can use this to take screenshots and record videos. To find the Game Bar, you can search for it or press the Windows + G keys.

In order to take a screenshot, you will need to press the camera icon on the overlay menu. If you want to record a video, you’ll need to press the record button.

All your screenshots and videos are saved in the Videos > Capture folder.

Snipping Tool:

The Snipping Tool is another handy built-in Windows feature that allows you to take screenshots.

With the Snipping Tool, you can opt to take either:

  • Free-form snips: freely draw around whatever you want to screenshot.
  • Rectangular snips: drag the cursor to form a rectangle over what you want to capture.
  • Windows snip: take a screenshot of an entire window.
  • Full-Screen snip: take a screenshot of your entire PC screen.

To open the Snipping Tool, you can either search for it or press Windows + Shift + S.

Any screenshots you take will be automatically saved to the Snipping Tool window where you can choose to make changes or save it.

Dedicated Screen Capturing Software:

In addition to all of this, you can also opt for a dedicated screen capturing software, such as TweakShot Screen Capture.

These dedicated softwares have been designed to professionally capture your screen and offer a huge variety of screenshotting options, such as single window, full screen, and much more.
