Throughout our spooky festivities for the big day, we couldn’t help but wonder what it would really be like to step into the shoes, or paws, of some of our favourite monsters. That’s why we’ve put together this list of our top games where you can escape to fantastical or gruesome worlds and play as iconic monsters.
Wolf Among US
Based on the infamous Fables comic books, Wolf Among Us allows you to take shape as Bigby Wolf, the one and only big bad wolf. Set in the fictional Fabletown, taking inspiration from New York City in the 1980s, Bigby holds the title of sheriff tasked with investigating a series of mysterious murders. Team up with Snow to unravel the clues, hunt down the deadly Crooked Man, and save Fabletown. Along the way, you’ll uncover deeper secrets about the townsfolk, consisting of some iconic faces from fairytales, legends, and folklore.
As the Wolf Among Us is a classic TellTale game, it’s split into five different episodes in which you’ll have full control over the decisions you make in game. You can tailor the game’s events to better suit what you feel the big bad wolf would decide. Be warned, every decision can have rather monstrous consequences.

Left 4 Dead 2
Tired of the same old classic storyline of human survivors versus zombies? In Left 4 Dead 2 you can turn the tables in the dedicated co-op Versus mode and become hungry for brains. You’ll need to get together a group of friends, especially those who are willing to take a bite and become infected. Each playthrough will consist of two turns, in which one team is the Survivors, and the other is the Infected.
The only goal of the Survivors is to make it as far as possible before becoming outrun by the Infected. However, as the Infected you’ll get to play as brain thirsty zombie and need to either injure or kill all the Survivors as fast as possible. What’s more, there are also ‘Special Infected’ classes that you can unlock to earn some tasty advantages over those pesky Survivors. You can play a zombie capable of spitting acid, spewing deadly puke, or even strangling your victims with an incredibly long tongue…

Dead by Daylight
Dead by Daylight is a classic choice for your spooky festivities. This four-player multiplayer horror game puts someone in the role of a Killer and the others as Survivors. The trick is to escape the Killing Ground whilst avoiding being caught, tortured, and killed. The Survivors will have the advantage of playing in third person to better see their surroundings, whereas the Killer is in first person. The creepy ambience, music, and environment deliver the ultimate spooky backdrop. I don’t want to know what’s hiding in that fog…
To help you live out your monster fantasies, there are a variety of gruesome and rather terrifying Killers. The options range from classic horror icons including Freddy Krueger and Ghost Face to more supernatural forces such as the Demogorgon and Xenomorph. Each Killer will boast a unique set of powers that will aid you in hunting, catching, and killing your victims.
