These include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>CAS Latency (CL)\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; The\u00a0number of clock cycles between\u00a0the request and the data becoming available. A lower CL value when shopping for memory usually\u00a0means faster performance.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>RA S to CA S Delay (tRCD)\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; The number of clock cycles it takes to access a row in the memory matrix and access the\u00a0columns inside it.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>RA S\u00a0Precharge\u00a0Time (tRP) &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>The delay that is\u00a0required\u00a0to close one data row and then access another row.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Row Active Time (tRAS)<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0The\u00a0minimum\u00a0number of\u00a0clock\u00a0cycles a row must stay\u00a0open\u00a0to\u00a0accurately read or write data.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These timings effect your system\u2019s responsiveness by either speeding up or slowing down your RAM\u2019s ability to ready memory to be read by the processor.&nbsp;As a result, you can experience better frame&nbsp;rates and minimise bottlenecks in your system, perfect for demanding gaming sessions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fine-Tuning Secondary Timings\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While they&nbsp;aren\u2019t&nbsp;outwardly displayed when shopping around, your RAM\u2019s secondary timings can have a small but sometimes noticeable effect on&nbsp;the overall performance of your PC. These timings include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>tREFI\u00a0(Refresh Interval)<\/strong>\u00a0-The rate at which your RAM refreshes data.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>tRFC\u00a0(Row Refresh Cycle Time)<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; How\u00a0many clock cycles are\u00a0needed\u00a0for a refresh command.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>tFAW\u00a0(Four Activate Window)<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Limits memory activations to prevent spikes\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>tRRD_S\/tRRD-L (Row to Row Delay)\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; The\u00a0pause\u00a0between activating rows in the same memory bank group\u00a0(S) or different bank groups (L).\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>tRDRD_SCL\/tWRWR_SCL\u00a0(Same Cycle Length)<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Outlines the delay\u00a0between back-to-back reads and writes.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>tWTR_S\/tWTR_L\u00a0(Write to Read Delay)<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; The time it takes to complete a write command and\u00a0initiate\u00a0a read command.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>tWR\u00a0(Write Recovery Time)<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0However long\u00a0is\u00a0required\u00a0to\u00a0write data\u00a0to the memory array before a pre-change can occur. This is hard locked at 48 clocks on many platforms (like AMD AM5) due to memory chip limitations.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If&nbsp;you\u2019re&nbsp;just starting out on your overclocking journey, you may want to focus purely on primary timings. This stops you from having to go through all the trouble of troubleshooting and potentially damaging your RAM in the overclocking process.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These profiles offer a strong starting point for many who do not want to damage their system or&nbsp;aren\u2019t&nbsp;one hundred percent sure what to look for when overclocking.&nbsp;In some cases, though, manual overclocking provides better results.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As every gamer\u2019s PC is different, the right overclocking&nbsp;frequencies&nbsp;for your memory&nbsp;are&nbsp;determined&nbsp;by the hardware inside your PC.
