DVI Cables
Consisting of DVI-I and DVI-D configurations, the Digital Video Interface or DVI cable was once the former standard for display output connections, proving to have one primary benefit for the purposes of gaming. Supporting resolutions upto 2560x1600p at 60Hz, while being useful for high resolution displays the DVI connection does not transmit an audio signal. For those looking to output audio from a DVI connection they will require a DVI to HDMI converter. Where DVI-I supports both digital and analog video signals, DVI-D only supports digital.
For those with older displays and non-gaming graphics cards, the DVI connection is may still be present. As the DVI connection is still widely available across a large range of displays - primarily older models, those using the latest graphics for image editing or gaming will still be able to use older displays through an adapter. This also provides a viable solution for multi-monitor setups, limited to 60Hz at the highest resolution.
