Awesome cooler

Cheap as chips and keeps my i5 2500k ultra cool (doesn't go over 55c under full load).

An absolute bargain, why would you want to pay more?

Ice Block

I use this on my i7 2600K and wow it's just amazing for an air cooler. Had it for a year and is still mint condition. Have clocked my CPU to 4.5Ghz and it kept the temp at 30C really good piece of kit.

Just make sure you have room for this beasty, as it really is Huge! I have about 1mm gap between my 1st RAM module and the bottom edge of the Cooler block, and about 5mm clearance from the top to the case side panel. (Gigbyte P67A-UD4 + Antec 902)

Bang for buck.

Upgraded from Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2. Saw a 14c drop on all cores on a OC i5 2500k at 4.2GHZ. 70c on prime95 great cooler.

Top notch!

This is a fantastic CPU cooler that won't break the bank!

Cooling a Core i5 2500K CPU on an Asus P8P67 LE motherboard, I managed to overclock to a hefty 4.7GHz!! Idle temperatures are as low as 29C, whilst it never exceeds 78C peak on full load (vcore max ~ 1.4V)!

And the best pro: this cooler is seriously quiet, especially for its performance! No resonant frequencies at any speed, no squeaky noises.

Nice budget cooler

I just used this cooler in a budget rebuild , and the first thing that struck me was how big it was. Not the width of it, but the actual height of the thing. Which is why i struggled to fit this in my budget case & had to improvise accordingly.

It was the most difficult part of my build to install, the backplate was tricky & i had to improvise as i said, to get it to fit. But overall i was impresssed with the build quality for the price. Apart from the parts, it came with a small A4 sheet manual with some pics for installation(could had been better, but i guess this is a budget cooler). And a small syringe of thermal grease. I used some Arctic silver instead though. Very nice budget cooler, reccomended.

Just replaced the stock fan on my 955 at stock speed, which was starting to sound like a jet turbine in this warm weather. Ambient temperature in my room is very high at the moment and this 212+ dropped my load temps from 65c down to around 48c and the idle temps are mid 30's. Most importantly it is very quiet, can hardly hear it!

Easy Fit

Apart from motherboard removal(which is standard on most big coolers anyway),easy to fit(instructions are ok) in my am3 set up,vertical fit and i moved my 2 sticks of ram but didnt really need to,temps are high teens idle and 33*c under load, easy fits in my antec 300 case

Neither brilliant nor terrible

Just a heads up, this is the old version of the 212 and so will not come with the plastic fan mounting clips. Instead you get incredibly fiddly wire clips that are far too thin for he holes in the fan, meaning they always pop out.

The mounting system was also pretty
annoying. I felt the manual could have been more helpful with this, instead It was another fiddly job to get the heatsink screwed down.

I'm using this with an i3 540, and the temps are ok. Overclocked to 4ghz, I get ~38C at idle and at 100% load just over 70C.

Lastly, contrary to whats advertised I do not find the fan quiet at all! At 4ghz, it's only just bearable and will often go into the unbearable zone whenever the CPU is under load.

If I had the choice I would have probably gone with something a little more expenisve.

I've just built a system: Core I7 2600K/ASUS P8P67 Evo/8GB GSkill Ripjaws in an NZXT Lexa S case.

Clearance is fine for RAM with the fan mounted and the side panel fan clears the cooler by about an inch.

I built the system initially with the stock cooler and temps seemed high, 34-36deg idle, 46-48 on load (CPU turbo to 3.8Ghz), under Prime95 I was seeing temps of 71deg C.

Fitted the 212+ and seeing 31deg idle, 34 deg at 3.8Ghz, and under Prime95 no more than 36-37deg! Although to be fair on the stock cooler I'm not convinced I had it mounted correctly which seems to be the majority of causes of high CPU temps with the stock cooler.

The instructions leave a little to be desired but I used the supplied Thermal Compound. A good site for applying thermal compound on a direct touch cooler such as this is:<emid=1&limit=1&limitstart=5

Next I'll try an overclock to 4 or 4.2Ghz not going mad with it

Ice cool......

Keeps my amd phenom ii 955 at 24-26 idle and 36 max at load. Though it did take ma a long time to figure out how the fan goes on the cooler and how to screw the cooler onto the motherboard which was weird as one screw was higher than the other so i had to screw it down really tightly

Ahmed 2011-02-15

Great cooler

Love this cooler. Bought one for a friend, he loves it too. To attach without grief, two and a half twists PER SCREW doing opposite corners at a time should cause it to screw down to the max. Keeps my Phenom 965 at 28 degrees whether its stock (under load) or @ 3.8+ at about 32 degrees. Doesn't combine well size-wise with Patriot Viper Xtreme memory due to size - had to rotate to a horizontal position as vertical fouled against the memory on a M4A89GTD Pro board. No big deal, no discernible temp variations. Never had any problems with board bowing or bending - I'd trust this cooler more than my old Silent Knight II...any day!
Only thing I'd upgrade this for is a custom built chiller loop based on a year perhaps ;)
Still, amazing cooler! Buy it!

I love these things

The manual just about makes sense if you study it hard enough :) I've fitted a few of these now and apart from the fact that they hog the RAM slots on Gigabyte mobos forcing you to use RAM without high heatsinks, they are as near silent as makes no odds and remain so even at high speeds, whilst cooling is excellent.

Chevallier 2010-11-30

excellent cooler

fitting wasn't too hard, manual not easy to read.
excellent performance for the price
have core i5 760 2.8 running @ 3.8 Ghz overclocked with cpu at 29 degrees

Cheap n Cheerful

Had purchased the Hyper 212+ to pair with a Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz / Asus P6X58D-E / Antec 900 Gaming Case.

Quite a large heatsink and fan combination but fits in quite nicely. As stated by one of the previous reviewers (Andrei Olteanu) whom had a little trouble screwing in all 4 pins, personally, I had to screw all 4 pins in equally. Biggest problem I had was attaching the clips...but after a little bit of figuring out, it all fits in nicely. I remember having to fit in a stock cooler on my previous CPU (Core 2 Quad 6600) and it felt like I had to use excess force...but this one fits in very nicely.

I would recommend people YouTube beforehand (Another PC/Mobile Phone) as you do this...but it's nothing to worry about.

Installed SpeedFan to monitor the temperature. Idle at 24-27 and stressed (Video rendering for 50 minutes) at 51-56'Celsius. Generally, I just play World of Warcraft and watch series/movies on the other monitor and it generally sits at 32-37'Celsius.

Good cooler - a nightmare to mount

I have to give this cooler 3 stars because it was simply a nightmare to get it on my AM3 motherboard. I only managed to screw 3 of the 4 screws it has as I would have otherwise cracked my mobo. Maybe I was not doing it right, but after over 2 hours of trying to get it on properly I kinda gave up and went with the compromise solution. I have been running it for the past two weeks and it manages to keep my Phenom 2 X2 555 Black Edition OCed at 3.8 Ghz cool as a cucumber. It is really good for a dual core processor and it can handle a lot of overclocking for the price. Would recommend it.
5 stars for performance
1 star for mounting it which was a hassle to say the least
Don't know how easily this would have slotted in on an Intel mobo so I can't say you are going to have the same problems as I've had.

Andrei Olteanu 2010-09-26

Paired with an I7-860 this has reduced my idle temp from 30 degrees (intel stock fan) to 15 degrees. Full load temp has not even hit 35 degrees. Fan is so quiet I had to check it was actually running.

Get some Artic Cooling MX-2 at the same time - well worth the investment.

I found it easy to fit - ignore the instructions and look on the web for clearer pictures on how it fits.

Nice to have a CPU cooler screwed onto the motherboard rather than the push fit ones. Also this thing is light despite the picture showing it to be a big cooler.

Highly recommended.

Best for Budget Cooling

Great budget cooler keeping my i7 920 very cool. Bit big compared to others on the market offering the same performace.

Consider this a brute force approach to cooling.

Would reccomend this although mine did arive a little banged up (no damage to box at all so assuming it was packaged by Cooler Master like that). Easy to striaghten out the fins a little and will work just as well.

Would suggest getting new thermal paste as Cooler Master do not make great stuff - Arctic Silver I sware by.

Good cooler for pretty much any platform just a tad big.

Jimmy 2010-01-25

It's Big

This fills the Antec 300 case, but it's well positioned next to the 2 case fans. Used with an AMD 550 which have had the two extra cores released and overclocked to 3600MHz. Temperature hasn't gone over 40C. We'll have to wait to summer to see what happens!
