Contains Drive Only

Great drive, but when they say "Contains Drive Only" they really mean it. No bracket, no cable, not even a box!

SSD DIED

The service from Overclockers was brilliant as usual, but the SSD died after just 6 months of use.

Although the SSD is in warranty and a replacement has been issued, i still think that it should have died after this long.

That's because player load has nothing to do with your HDD/SSD. The only thing an SSD would speed up would be menus, area change load times and opening your map.

Maybe you should get a better internet connection before giving something a 3 star review for not improving something that's impossible for it to improve in the first place.

Mr Cool

Cool smooth and fast drive. Running mine with sata II at present and still gets windows 7 score of 7.8.

Instalation was a breeze with no issues at all.

P.S. make sure you have changed from IDE to AHCI in BIOS to get best performance.

Wilderbeast 2012-04-06

Simply awesome

I managed to get the thing running at full speed after 2 or 3 problems. Turning off C1E in the bios (gigabyte mobo z68), using the correct rated sata cables is a must and using the correct ports on the motherboard, as not all sata3 ports are equal.

I have marvel and intel ports on mine, the marvel ones were simply not up to the job, intel ones work fine though. Cant blame these problems on the drive though, more like the motherboard.

Going to get 1 more for my most popular games, as my motherboard only has 1 more intel port :(

SimsCreed 2012-04-04

Brilliantly fast for it's price.

This is the first SSD I have ever bought and boy was I impressed. Windows 7 loads in 8.6 seconds and the WEI score was 7.7 even though I was running it on SATA II.
This SSD will be great for my next system build. For only

Great!

My first leap into the SSD world.. Linked up with a Z68 mobo and 2tb slaver, this thing just flys! Shipped with latest Firmware 1.3.3 to reach full potential, it is very fast!

Chevallier 2012-02-21

Superb

Came with the latest firmware installed. W7 runs like a dream, everything loads as near instantly as makes no odds. Game loading times are all but not there. I can see no reason to spend an extra 40 quid or so on other 120GB drives.

Joshua Hedge 2012-02-20

Overall the SSD has been a brilliant upgrade for my 2008 Macbook Pro. Unfortunately I am only giving it a 3 star review because of periodic system freezes. They last for 10-20 seconds and happen twice a day or so, nothing major but irritating.

Tom 2012-02-13

WOW

I am not writing a big review because it is as everyone else has said below. The load times are just wow.

Brilliant Drive

Excellent drive. Thought it was about time to make the jump to an SSD for my two year old i7 920 system. Fantastic upgrade. Had been using a fast 7200RPM HDD for my previous installation of Windows 7 and boot time was about 45 seconds which was I was pretty happy with. Having now made the jump to an SSD the difference is night and day. Even though I'm limited to SATA II (3Gb/s) boot time is 12 seconds to desktop and applications open instantly. (Great for MS office/large spreadsheets and photoshop in particular). In benchmarks I'm getting read speeds of 285Mb/s and write speeds of 265Mb/s which seems about right for SATA II. Very happy with this purchase. My HTPC has a 64GB Crucial M4 which is fine for OS and a few applications but soon gets full. I would recommend a 120GB drive for anybody who wants a bit more than the bare minimum of applications and programmes on their SSD. 5*!

TinTin 2012-01-19

Super Fast

Have 2 of these in Raid 0 for main drive,
The bios screen is on longer than it takes windows to load, benchmarked at 1000mb/s per sec on read on larger file ops, simply amazing compared to magnetic drives. 2 x 10000rpm raptors in raid 0 dont even come close. Must get one for my laptop now.

Matt 2012-01-11

AMAZING!

Super Super Super Fast on my laptop. Windows now takes approx 10 seconds to boot instead of 48+ seconds! Programs load on the click and its increased my laptop battery life from 4hrs to nearly 5hrs!

Murray Poole 2012-01-11

kushti

Bought this to replace my 40gb Intel ssd which i previously used for os and was running short on space.
Now i can have my os & a couple games running from my c drive (swtor & bf3) with plenty to spare.
Noticed difference in speed straight away, also my windows performance score jumped from 7.1 to 7.6.
Delivered next day for free, thanks again ocuk.

Rod 2012-01-02

Excellent

Been running mine for a couple of day's now, love it, and as mentioned previously,BF3 loads so much faster, great product, and cracking service once again from OCUK.

Greg Mann 2011-12-27

So quick...A must have

My wife got me one of these for christmas and I have to say I can't believe I didn't get one earlier with all my other upgrades.
Win7 64bit loads in 17 seconds from the time I press the power button to everything loading up.
For me this will save me money in the long run as I no longer leave my PC on 24/7 (as the load times on my HDD were so slow)

Sean 2011-12-15

Seaniboy

Recently purchased one from Over Clockers the difference in loading time is amazing. Mostly noticed in BF3!

John 2011-12-03

Maybe

Overclockers are the best!

SSD itself runs at 250Mb/s on large files.
Maybe it's my bad quality Motherboard - Asus P5QC (SATA 2)
WD Black 500Gb - 120Mb/s (Black is the fastest of Western Digital)

Chris 2011-12-01

Had doubts but wow

ordered 27/11/2011 the ssd came with firmware version 3.2 and has been faultless, installed bf3 and loading times are just amazing as is windows 7 startup/shutdown.The drive is silent and produces little heat.
what more can i say please trust this review and buy one u will not be dissapionted!! also checked with ocuk and none of these drives have been rma'd and are rock solid

Furyus 2011-11-20

Amazing

got my self one of these,
first time using SSD, and oh my days !!! this has to the best improvement i have ever witnessed! from the time i start my pc, i am ready to surf the net in around 10-14 seconds !!! !!!!!!!

Jonathan Bruce 2011-11-17

The Future is SSD

I got one of these instead of a High capacity Hdd. Best choice I've done. On WEI the drive is 7.9. After re-installing everything I still have 50gb left. Can't be bothered to use my original WD 640gb as a secondary drive, will get a caddy for it instead.. Well done everyone, OcUk and Corsair!

pete0151 2011-11-12

no going back

these are the future, hdd raid has no chance against this monster . from bios my 64 bit premium is ready to surf in about 20 seconds .

Force 3 SSD

This is my first SSD, got in prep for upcoming SWTOR release and get the best load speed possible.

Was really easy to install in my NZXT Phantom case once i worked out all my cables, using a P8P67 Pro motherboard. It was simply plug the wire in, boot up, install win 7 and done. (Only thing i would note is - no sata cable included. This is my first purchase of a SSD/HDD so i didn't know it would come without one, lucky i had a spare one laying around).

Really amazing speeds im seeing from this little device, with no tweaking / firmware update needed.

Read - 550MB/s
Write - 510MB/s

Fast delivery, next day. Couldn't be happier with this purchase and performance of the SSD.

Andoni 2011-10-29

BLITZ

Worked straight out the box on a Asus P8P67 PRO. Opens up everything in an instant, insane boot times, bios takes longer to load! Highly recomended, will be getting another for sure.

Macca 2011-10-25

mental

One of the best performance upgrades you can do to your system is buy an SSD.

Games load so quickly, cold booting windows no longer requires you to go make a cuppa while you wait for it to start.

Great read and write speeds, a must have for any serious gamer

Quibble 2011-10-15

One of the best upgrades for your PC

Solid State Drives are the future. If you have the money treat yourself to one of these beauties. There are other SSDs out there that are a good buy but from my experience so far, this drive is rock-solid stable out of the box and performs to specification with no tweaking necessary. Works great with older Intel-based chipsets running SATA II ports. Getting 275 - 280 read / write speeds. Very happy and you really can feel / see the difference. Installing Windows 7 is much faster, boot times significantly reduced, games and apps load quickly and run smoothly. What else can I say?!

Dom 2011-10-08

Fast

Got mine a few days ago, done all the SSD tweaks, updated to latest firmware and WOW, seriously fast, best upgrade ive ever made.
On a note id suggest only putting this on a motherboard that is sata 3 capable as its a waste on anything lower

wakadoo 2011-09-19

blistering

installed and set up with no issues, in th 4 weeks i have used it i have had a couple of niggles. It has dissapeared from bios once and the pc has refused to start up twice, just switching the power off at the psu for a few secs cured the problem each time.
Well its been great other than these few initial bugs and its just so quick that i could not go back now so i will keep on checking the forums for tips and tricks as this is new teck so a little effort and learinig will do me good.

love it and will not go back.

blim 2011-09-14

fast

loads windows in under 10sec for me. looks great and well built as always with Corsair.

Force 3 SSD

Got this to use as my boot drive with Windows 7 Pro. Still using my old rig which only has SATA II and all I can say is Wow!!

I was using four 320GB drives in raid 0 before installing this and this SSD has blown my old setup out the water. Absolute poles apart on every level! Its silent, it produces very little heat, its only 2.5" wide and it's fast as hell!

Would recommend this SSD to anybody... even if you're unfortunate enough to be stuck with SATA II like me, the difference in performance is just incredible.

SATA II
Intel 2.66Ghz Quadcore
ASUS X38 P5E3 Deluxe
8GB OCZ DDR3 1333Mhz
ATI 4870

Sustained sequential read/write = 360MBps.

Theoretically SATA II 3Gbps should support 384MBps so I'm a bit unsure how/why I only come out with 360MBps.

I don't think I'd ever be able to switch back to booting from a standard HDD anymore. 7.6 on Windows 7 Pro through SATA II.

Brilliant drive. 5 stars from me.

Steven 2011-09-05

Very Very Very Fast

I love it. My first SSD and it just runs so fast.

Did not need to update firmware to run Intel

Carl Ryder 2011-09-01

Pretty Sweet SSD

Nice SSD this, had mine over a week now. I am running it on an AMD SB750 which is not the best and also SATAII but you only see the difference in benchmarks. Had a few teething problems, if you should have the same try turning of C1E in bios and there are a lot of little tweaks you can do which windows wont automatically take on, have a look on Google. Windows 7 book from the loading screen is less than 20 seconds which is nice and 7.6 score in windows 7 under SATAII BTW.

It gets 4 stars as you will get the odd bluescreen, you can try the 1.3 firmware but this will loose some performance apparently so I'm holding off until all the issues are sorted :)

Force 3 SSD

I have just one of these as my Win7 boot drive, and I must say its fast.I am new to SSD Tech,so I thought I would give it a try.Installation was P&P.Win 7 took approx 12minutes to install.Updates and SP 1 also took about 12 minutes to install. To say thats an improvement over a HDD is an understatement.Everything just seems much smoother and quicker, especially Explorer 9.The size of the SSD after format is 111gb.I understand it keeps so much in reserve ect.I was unaware of the past recall that Crucial did with the first generation SSD's.However mine came with a seriel number starting with'1130'.So I assume mine is definatly a 2nd gen drive.I have no idea what the Firmware version is,so I am leaveing it alone as I have had no problems at all.I would say these SSD's are excellent value,Fast-definately,Reliable-time will tell.
