Fantastic PSU

This PSU is fantastic. It's well built (actually made by seasonic) and comes nicely packaged. A few PSU's above 850w are quite long but this is standard size and is perfect if you have limited space. I've had a lot of power supplies over the years and this is up there with the best. It runs nice and quiet and is very stable. If you get a chance check out some professional reviews where they test it under load and you'll see it does very well.

It's powering the following in my system:

i7 920 @ 4.0ghz & 6GB
2 GTX 580's in SLi
Laing/MCP 18W water pump
3 x 180mm fans
3 x 120mm fans
2 hard drives and 1 optical.
Cold cathodes

Delivers on all fronts

Surprisingly small and compact given its capabilities this PSU is manufactured by Seasonic so its heritage is not in question. Its 100% modular unlike many other so-called "modular" PSUs that also make the claim. I was pleased to find that the PCI-E cables were long enough to reach my 5870 without requiring extensions, although the 8 pin motherboard cable did require an extension cable. The 24 pin cable also reached my mobo without issue - this was in an 800D case.

I chose this PSU on the basis of a recommendation by and would encourage any prospective buyers to check out their exacting reviews as they rarely if ever endorse a product that is not premium quality. Its utterly silent under load which was my main requirement.

The seven year warranty demonstrates the faith Corsair have in this PSU.

Pure quality

This actually felt a bit special when unpacking it. Plenty of foam securing it and it was in very nice soft bag. The cables come in a great little case of their own and it was packed with stuff.
The modular design is fantastic. Although it doesn't come with any extension cables to fit full towers, the 700D case I also bought came with the extension cable so it pays off to buy such high quality products.
Can't say I have ever heard the fan but I haven't really stressed it at all with a normal system build.

nice PSU

I got one of these for my latest build, and I am extremely impressed with it.

It's powering an RIIIE, i7 950, 6GB G Skill Trident RAM, GTX480, Intel Gen 2 SSD (80GB) and various SATA II HDD's for storage, and it's powering this system very nicely with a fairly decent O/C on the processor too.

I went for this particular model over the HX series due to this one being 100% modular.

Also, to the reviewer below, I've built loads of systems in the past and pretty much all of the builds I've done in full tower cases have required an extension cable for the 8-pin CPU Power cable in order to route it up behind the mobo tray, these extensions only cost a few quid, and make the inside of your case look a lot neater because you can run the cable behind the mobo tray to keep it out of sight...

Very disappointed

I got the psu today as part of my new rig. I could not believe that the 2x 4 pin cpu power cable was so short! I have a Cooler Master HAF X case, and the only way to get the cable to reach the psu is to have it stretch across the motherboard, rather than being routed behind the back plate and down to the psu keeping your case nice and tidy.
So if you have a full tower case DO NOT buy this psu, the cables need about an extra 6 inches to be functional.

Love at first sight, sort of.

Outstanding piece of kit. Packing through to design, fully modular and not as big as I was Expecting for a 850w. Very quiet, even when pushed.
Main cables are nicely braided for the majority of the cable length but the molex and lower priority cables are plain black wiring and are quite stiff.
All in all for a Gold certified PSU minor points that dont detract from overall grade.
