Great poersupply. Shame about the cable

This is a great power supply. It runs my two GTX980s and the rest of my rig comfortably and very quietly. My only slight reservation are the supplied cables. They are flat, which is good, but quite inflexible which isn't so good. Fitting them into my rig became unnecessarily difficult - not impossible, but just difficult.

Other than that, I have no reservations about this power supply at all.

runs two Powercolor R9 290X's Crossfired

My exprience with my Corsair RM850 system setup :
PSU: Cosair RM850, Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero, Ram: 4x4Gig Corsair Vengence Pro 1866, CPU: Intel i7-4770, Corsair H55, Graphics Cards: 2 x Powercolor R9 290X's, Storage: 120Gig Samsung Evo 840 (OS drive), 1.5TB WD, 1TB WD, Asus DVDRW, Case: Areo Cool Evil Black Edtion.
The first thing i started to worry about after my build was my corsair RM850 psu, after reading two not so steller reviews, it raised the question, is this psu powerful enough to meet my system's demands? after all two R9 290X graphics cards do suck some power! and the fact mine are factory over clocked to 1030mhz made me wonder? are the extra 30mhz worth the increase in power draw? and how much more does the power draw equate to anyway ? well ...i dont know do i ? but i do know it lead me down the garden path about the myth of needing 10 million killi-o-watts to run 2 x R9 290X's lol
i choose the asus hero motherboard as i figuard it would be a stable platform to place my 2 R9 290X's on, these puppies get very hot so a good motherboard should be a good start, i dont want to overclock so i bought the i7-4770 non K version.
ok i lerned very quickly never to trust software such as AIDA64 and GPU-Z for true voltage readings they both told me my voltage on my 12volt rail was dropping to 11.25volts which i thought was odd as my system has always been rock solid stable ...... anyway after hours of testing with a multi-meter the lowest the 12volt rail dropped was 11.91volts not the 11.25volts GPU-Z and AIDA64 was telling me, as for needing 1000w PSU to run 2 X R9 290X's in crossfire i can honestly say after 7 months of thrashing this system to hell and back, not once has my Corsair RM850 let me down, i have re-tested the 12Volt rail and 7 months down the road, its still reading (under full load) the 11.91volts it was reading 7 months ago, so there i have it there's bugger all wrong with running a system with 2 X Powercolor OC R9 290X's using an Corsair RM850 PSU (so far) .. i guess i also learned that 3/4 of the people who post "you need this and you need that , that psu is rubbish i read a review a!
bout it blahh blahh blahh" probs dont even own or have ever owned the hardware you own. and can hardly make claims that 1000watts is the min you should get for 2X R9 290X's ... as for overclocking why on earth would i want or even feel the need to overclock a system of such high spec ? waste of time other than bragging rights as far as i can make out. so if ya ask me the Corsair RM850 PSU works grate for two R9 290X's in crossfire reguardless of what the reviewers type. just my exprience with this PSU although yours may differ.

Silent Powerful PSU - Great

Using this PSU with i% and GTX780Ti, silent, well made PSU wonderful. No problem with cables all went well. PSU cool and not had fan activate so far. Highly recommended.

Great PSU

I must say another great product by corsair. I had their CX 600M for a few years now and i thought it was time to upgrade my system. It comes with all the cables you would ever need. IF you are looking for a new power supply, look no further.

Excellent Psu, No coil whine and it real

Can't hear anything from the power supply unless I push my system really hard. Had no issues at all including no coil whine, unlike previous Corsair power supplies I've owned in the past. For me the Rm series is a winner.

Fantastic PSU - Quiet and Powerful

A very quiet, powerful and efficient PSU that also doesn't heat up your case much. I have it powering this system: Corsair 330R Case, MSI P67A - GD65 Rev B, i7 2600K @ 3.8 (Dark Rock Advanced), 8Gb RAM, 240 Gb SSD, 2 Tb HDD, DVD Writer, EVGA GTX 780 Dual Classified. It is so quiet that the noisiest component is normally the 2Tb HDD! :)

great liitle psu

had one for a few weeks now after my old dark power started playing up, tidy unit, cables can be a bit tricky to bend occasionally but as they are thin they can be easily hidden. seems very stable, and quiet. running 2 gcards and 2 water pumps and the usual other bits and bobs don't think I have heard the fan once yet.

Good quality. Silent. Cables are annoyin

This PSU is excellent in all ways except for the cables they supply you with. They're all ribbon-style cables and they are so hard to manipulate into position and keep tidy. This was the biggest annoyance during this build.

That being said, it is so far running so quiet you could hear a mouse fart. Excellent build quality.

Quality and silent, what more could I wa

This power supply is out standing. Let me be the first to say that. The fact it's fully modular and with ultra thin cables made managing the cables actually bearable. It also allowed me to hide all of my cables fully due to the fact they are so thin. Literally they're about 1 mil thick. The power is also very clean - I checked all the voltages and I must say perfect no observable ripple on any of my software *Ai Suite II and gpu tweaks voltage controller. Other worse off power supplies were a bit over the place causing instability but not this psu. As always with Corsair - expect quality and you'll get it.a
