Vortex HDB V12HP PWM-Fan, 120mm

PWM Function
PWM stands for Pulse Width Modulation. The 4-Pin connector allows the mainboard to control the fan speed from 800-1500RPM.

High-vortex-airflow with turbine blade & frame patented design
Optimum airflow, air pressure & extremely silent performance.

Diversion groove blade design
Innovative blade design focus air flow & optimum cooling efficiency (patent).

Anti-vibration pad design
Reduce the vibrations efficiently & silent operation.

Aero-dynamical design
Air-inlet with optimal aero-dynamical design reducing noisy air turbulences.

Hydro-dynamic-bearing technology
Hdb runs more smoothly with no friction, make it quietly & durability(mtbf300,000hrs).

Tool-less fixed pins
Rubber fixed pins also reduces vibrations (fan run more quietly) and tool-less makes it easy to mount, with no tools required.

Very quiet positive so far

Great service from overclockers as usual.

Only fitted two of these to my Corsair h100i GTX today but I just did a video conversion test so I thought I'd review them now.

I also recently brought the Overclockers badged Silverstone produced fans for the same purpose. I gave them a positive review but for some reason it never made it to the site so this is a sort of combined review.

Firstly the Cougars on this cooler in performance mode do not give 1500rpm all the time. With a cooler temp of 31c I saw 1200rpm and 1300rpm at around 34c. The Oc's fans register around 1680- 1800rpm but these are 3 pin fans so are always maximum speed while the Cougars are 4 pin.

Using the Cougars to cool my I7 4790k @ 4.6 turbo.
While rendering an avi file (h264 I think) temps reached 78c where as using the oc's fans a few weeks ago I got around 71 to 74c I think but this was a much shorter file than the Cougars had.

For an mpeg2 of the same file gave a temp of around 54c most of the time using the Cougars.

Both are much quieter than the original Corsair fans on this cooler, this could be relevant as the same fans are in use on later generation products.

However in noise terms these Cougars win easily, in fact I became interested in them after buying a Cougar 14cm blue led fan to replace my stock rear fan on my Thermaltake level 10 GT that was very loud in pwm mode.

Whether I stick with these Cougar fans or go back to the oc's fans depends on perfomance when my room heats up again it is currently 23c according to my smart meter very close to where I'm sitting.

Anyway I know many people want to replace the Corsair fans on the h100i series aio's so hopefully this gives people two options.

Both are really good but currently for me at least these Cougars have the edge because they are so quiet.
