Great choice

I bought this monitor as a replacement to my Iiyama xb2779qs that I got 2 weeks earlier which had some backlight bleed issues. I initially kept the Iiyama but after some time I thought I couldn't live with a 400GBP product with noticeable issues (there was one point of bleed I couldn't bear and couldn't fix permanently either) so I am RMAing it.

So this Dell monitor has the same LG AH-IPS panel and indeed the image looks nearly identical. The main difference being the matte finish, it seems the Dell's anti-glare coating is quite strong and the Iiyama's glossy glass made it look just a little crispier. Overall, now that I have seen both versions of matte vs glossy on the same panel, I feel like the matte panel is more smooth to the eye (causes less eye strain over time) while the Iiyama indeed gives you a small plus with the eye-popping colours. Its a small but noticeable difference, only when the screens are side-side.

Other than that my monitor is rev A01 from April 2013 and has none of the issues that seem to be quite frequent with some Dell monitors. I just have 1 stuck red pixel that I am trying to get unstuck and most importantly not a hint of backlight bleed, no matter how much I tried to find some.

I move from a 1080P Asus monitor and although it had a great picture I wanted to step it up, All I can say is WOW.
If your in the market for a high res screen I wouldn't look anywhere else other than here :)
And as usual, Great service from OCUK.

Much potential

This monitor looked amazing. It was only after viewing darker backgrounds in games/photoshop/movies that it was noted that the backlight bleed was very very noticeable. Occupying the full left-hand quarter of the screen.

Also had a stuck blue pixel which was noticed on that dark screen too. What this meant was that the monitor is awesome until a dark screen came!!

Best monitor!

I simply love this monitor.
The simple but classic design makes it very easy to blend in to the rest of the set up.
Also it took me less than 5 min to setup this monitor. Take out the stand, put the screen into it, plug power and dvi and done!
I strongly recommend getting this monitor

best monitor yet

in around 2000 went from a 19 inch to a Sony 21 inch, was really amazed at time with that monitor, reluctantly took plunge around 2006 and got myself a Dell 2407wfp 24 inch from Overclockers, from that moment stayed with Dell ever since, again reluctantly went from 2407wfp to this baby, again not looked back, this monitor is every thing i want and more, battlefield 3 looks great, cannot wait for battlefield 4, i believe 27inch is the sweet spot for gaming, internet browsing, and more.
films look great, the monitor looks great, every thing about this monitor from picture quality to build quality, is great,
i believe i have the best for me, why anyone would spend more for a monitor when they can get this baby at this price beats me, xxxxx

great monitor

This is a very nice monitor i have tried a lot of other monitors and this is the best one yet that
i have had and so easy to set up. comes with a good cable(that a lot of other makers don't send).
Not as bright and glarery as some monitors. I have two of them now as i was so pleased with the first one that i got
and yes its a little bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for and boy is this worth it.

Great Monitor

The Dell UltraSharp U2713HM monitor is an all round excellent monitor - very high resolution provides excellent picture quality, the aesthetics of the monitor are great, the stand is very sturdy and provide you with many ways to orient the screen.

Also, even with full sunlight on it through the window there is minimal glare.

Very impressed!

Perfect for me

Sent back my Asus PB278q as while I loved the picture, it gave me very bad migraines. I suffer from migraines anyway and certain shop lighting etc can trigger it.

I bought this as the reviews say it doesn't use PWM for brightness control which the Asus did and which after doing various tests on the Asus, was the cause of my problems.

Back to the Dell :)

I love it, been using it for 8 hrs and no migraines. I love the picture quality and the games I've tried have all played 100% fine with zero noticeable lag.

Putting an all black background and high brightness there is a bit of back light bleed, but I find it comfortable at 35% brightness and while there's still a slight bit if you look in a darkened room, in reality using the screen in normal usage, I've not noticed any.

Wall mounted so cant comment on the stand.

I don't think you will be disappointed with this monitor.

Very good

Got this this morning as an upgrade from a dell e248wfp 1900x1200.The screen is lovely, the anti glare is not an issue.Menus are easy to understand and use.
Stand seems ok.
All the cables in the box, clip the stand on,plug it in and its all good.
All the reviews i read commented on the bad input lag for this type of monitor.Im coming from a TN type monitor and to seems fine.Obviously i havent done a scientific test, ive Done a reaction time benchmark and played bf3 a bit.Its slightly better with the 27 inch.
Movies look good in 720p or 1080p
Definitely make sure you have a decent graphics card(cards)
Running BF3 at 2560x1440 is incredible, but the gtx 580 3gb im using is about as low spec as it could be and still get decent frame rates with ultra settings.
Everything ultra
no AA(not needed at this resolution)
60 fps its lowest with a bit going on in multiplayer...i saw 34,which i dont like.
Overall, very pleased with the screen, the build quality and performance.

I've had this screen for a week now and am really pleased with it. Games look great, and both myself and my friend noticed new detail in films that we hadn't seen previously on any other machine or tv because of the quality of the screen.
The display looks good as well, its not a particularly adventurous design but it still looks smart. I think some of the displays on the market (I'm looking at you, Samsung) are overly flashy whereas this has a simple, understated feel to it. It looks really smart and professional and doesn't clash with other items on my desk.
The only issue I've had so far is that when it goes into power saving mode when my computer goes to sleep it powers down onboard the usb hub as well. So if you have both mouse and keyboard plugged into the back of it you can't wake the computer up again which is a bit annoying.
I can't comment on photoshop use as I don't have it, but for games and films its great - a huge step up from the samsung t240 I had previously.
