The Best Of The Bunch IMO For Photoshop & Lightroom

First Off, The monitor came without any damage done to the box thanks to “DPD” unlike “Hermes Uk” in which my last 2 parcels had big gashes in the boxes! In this case I couldn’t take the chance with a 34” monitor, so I paid extra for DPD to deliver it and it was worth it.
Upon opening the box, I have to say Dell had everything well packed and all the components was in their own individuals compartments, so nothing will slide about inside the box.
Basically, all you do to get a grip of the monitor, is attach the stand to the back of the monitor by the stand which just clips into the back of it “No screw necessary” to lift it out and put it on your desk. Now be careful, as this monitor is NO lightweight!
Once on your desk, work out which cables you need to attach and attach them to the back of the monitor first, then snap on the cable cover if you require it. This is all base upon the assumption that you are putting the monitor up against the wall like it did. If in an open setup, then it doesn’t matter. There is also a quick setup guide as well if you run into difficulties. Connect to the back of your pc and you’re up and running.
Now because of the USB HUB on the back of it, I think it makes it useless to use, so I connected my USB Mouse and Keyboard to it or you could connect a USB 3.0 Card reader to it if you use them, basically something you will not be intending to remove again. If the HUB was on the side or top, it would have been much more useful.
Now I’m not a gamer but I use Photoshop & Lightroom and I needed an IPS Panel monitor for colours. I was coming from a 3 x 28” TN monitor setup and it was good for the time but when these type of displays came out, I knew I had to get one and man my desk it far more cleaner and tidier now as all the messy cables are GONE.
Now before I purchased this monitor, I read reviews & watched YouTube videos for about 2 months on curved 34” widescreen 3440x1440 IPS panel monitors and all of them has light bleeding or IPS glow at the corners from Acer, Dell, LG through to BenQ. How much you get depends on the luck of the draw! I myself with this Dell have got about 5% out of 100% which I can more than live with. I is only really noticeable when watching dark scenes. Now I know this is a pain but until they invent technology where it disappears altogether, we can only wait. If you get one without light bleed altogether, then you are one of the very very lucky ones.
The only Monitor I couldn’t find a review about IPS glow was the EIZO monitors and that was just because they didn’t mention it and my budget wouldn’t stump to £1500 for a 27” anyway but may you can find it.
In Photoshop and Lightroom I have more than enough room to view my image on the left side and have all the tools on the right side open at once.
When I print out an image, it comes out exactly the way I have seen it on the monitor, so I didn’t even need to calibrate it with the SpyderPro. I do all my own printing instead of farming it out.
Why did I go with Dell, in the end there was 2 factors, the stand and the warranty.
The Dell stand is great and it my eyes if far greater than all the other makes and models. You can Tilt, Raise, Swivel it with ease a factor in which some other models fail.
The Warranty is one of the best out there; Dell onsite warranty is great in my opinion from past experiences. If something goes wrong, they will send out another and take the old product back and this is for 3 years. Now I know that other products offer this but it always makes sense to read the small print these days even Dells.
In the end there is any amount of different product reviews from different makes, all you have to do is make up your mind on which one suits your needs. I personally liked this Dell 34” curved monitor but it doesn’t mean you will. Start with YouTube and do your research first.
I would give the Dell 34” 8/10, loosing 2 points in the USB HUB and the IPS Glow which they all have to a point.
P.S I bought this Dell 34” Curved offsite this time only because of the delivery options i.e. Hermes Uk I make no bones about it. “In my eyes, their crap”.

I have included a few photos of the 3 monitor setup I had before and now just the one Dell 34” 3440x1440 setup. You can make up your own mind which is best to suit your needs. I know I wouldn’t go back now.
I hope this review helps some of you to make up your mind all be it long winded.

Great Monitor All round

Before i purchased this monitor (which was an OC B Grade BTW) i checked around for advice and info on forums but if im honest i probably asked the wrong questions. See as a graphic designer and used to the higher colour accuracy of my other Dell Ultra sharps the Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP-HC 30" monitor and the Dell 24" 2407 screens i was quiet naive in thinking that all ultrasharps were created equal, it soon became apparent after receiving the screen this wasn't the case but thats not to say by any means its not a great screen !

Apart from the colour accuracy not being quite as good as a Dell premier colour screen range (which it never claimed it did) the monitor is very good. But as a graphic designer i found the range (especially the blues) seemed a little washed out in comparison to my other ultrasharps but its also worth mentioning that a 30" plus Premier colour ultrasharp is also around the

BEST Level Up EVER

I received this monitor yesterday, and I can honestly say that in my 35 years of computing this is the single best upgrade I've ever purchased. I was using a 28" Samsung 4K display (again from OC), but still wanted more. Prior to that I was using 3 displays, I've used some combination of 1/2/3 displays for several years - but NO MORE. This monitor simply has the lot. It's *huge*. The resolution is *perfect* - I can use standard DPI settings in Windows and everything is perfectly legible, plus all the apps I use that aren't DPI aware look great as they are not being scaled (if you haven't seen bad, try Skype Desktop or Spotify on a 4K monitor that's not set to the default scaling factor, they look awful).

I spend all day in front of my monitor programming, and now I no longer need two screens as I have two in one. Visual Studio docked left, whatever I'm programming docked right, and voila, sorted.

Downsides - well, there have to be a few. None of the websites I've been on so far know anything about screens this wide, so I'm left as an example with 2/3 of the screen blank. FB, Google, OC, you name it - they all show massive blank spaces either side of the content. Netflix is the only one so far that I've found that uses the full width - but I haven't looked for a film yet to see what that looks like in this super-wide format.

On the other hand - surfing the web is not the point of this monitor, it's a productivity tool and to that end, it ROCKS.

The images on here do not do it justice, this thing is so wide it's amazing! I've even had to speed up my mouse a bit as traversing from one side of the screen to the other takes a long time. No, seriously - it's that huge.

If you buy one you will never go back. It's epic!

Crystal Clear

Because of the current high price of curved screen ultra wide monitors and mixed reviews of all of them around the net, I was extremely worried about the purchase. Dreading to think how bad this back light bleed was going to be and how sharp the text would be to read, response times, blurring of fast paced motion etc, etc. But I desperately wanted a 21:9 curved screen so I figured I'd go for the cheapest option out at the moment and then there's less to lose, albeit still a very large 'less' for someone like me with a large family to feed.

Now I've had the monitor for a couple of days I wouldn't swap it for anything else. The text is so clear, no blurriness just ultra sharp and so easy to read. There's no sign of any motion problems, the colours are gorgeous once setup to your own liking, the preset Multimedia is a good choice after dropping the brightness down to around 35 and putting the contrast up to 100. I then added a few increments of saturation to make the colour really pop, the latter is done through the graphics card control panel(CCC for me currently). The build quality is excellent. Back light bleed is minimal and found in the four corners and only really apparent if you're looking for it on a dark image, it doesn't bother me at all.

I have noticed no input lag in gaming, only smooth crisp responsive gameplay. Blu ray movies look stunning but as with any of these 21:9 monitors you do struggle to get a full screen view without borders. After spending the last two days looking for a way around that I've given up for now. The only software I found that directly deals with the issue without going through the process of ripping your blu rays is Arcsoft's Total Media Theatre and that's no longer purchasable.

Audio is OK, probably pretty decent for a monitors built in option but if you're paying out for a monitor like this then you'll likely have a better alternative setup already like myself. There's a headphone jack too if you need that option.
It comes with three leads, an HDMI, a Mini to full size Displayport, and another odd looking lead that I had no clue about. There's no full size DP to DP lead so I purchased my own.

I may add to this in the future but at the moment I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this monitor, in fact I'll likely buy another couple for my two eldest children later in the year.

Totally immersive

I got this purely for the gaming experience and it seriously does not disappoint. It makes my 27" 1440 monitor look positively tiny. The extra width really makes the game more immersive.

There is a bit of backlight bleed in the corners but this is not noticeable unless the screen is black. You can not see it at all when gaming or using the desktop. As for using the desktop? The amount of screen real estate is awesome. Having multiple web pages at full size on the same screen has really changed the way I use my PC. My second monitor has now been demoted to just doing Skype and Afterburner.

You won't be disappointed with this monitor.
