Fantastic cards!

I bought two of these cards for crossfire, and was blown away by the performance.

i5 4670k @ stock speed
2 x r9 290x
8gb 2133mhz ram
Corsair Air 540

Firstly, using just one card, I got great performance across a range of games, and had no driver issues, the card stayed (depending on my fan curve) between 65 and 72 degrees, and the VRMs are kept equally cool by the large and evidently effective cooler. My power consumption from the wall was around 400W, lower than I had anticipated.

Two cards was the real test; my motherboard spacing meant the cards are only one-slot apart, and since the cooler overhangs, the two are actually less than half a slot from each other. I was concerned the top card would choke and throttle, but it did not. Admittedly, it gets relatively loud, but with a decent pair of speakers or wearing headphones the noise is unobtrusive. 70% fan speed is enough to keep the top card to around 80-85 degrees, while the bottom is closer to 65-70. Power consumption never exceeded 700W.

The performance is phenomenal. Using VSR I get a nice crisp image, and fantastic framerates, no noticeable stuttering, and overall I could not be happier. I have not played the most modern titles, and have heard of some issues as of late with crossfire support, but I'm sure this'll be worked out in good time.

I look forward to adding a third monitor for some eyefinity gaming :)

Highly recommend the 290x, and in particular, I recommend the PowerColour model.

OCUK service was, as always, fantastic.

What a shame

I bought this to build a computer from scratch. This was around the beginning of September 14, I'm going to give it a star rating as if there wasn't one major floor with this card. The black screen. If you do a google search you will find a plethora of information about this.
Running Day of Defeat was no prob, as it should be. Boot up Archeage or Arma 3, this is when it starts. It crashes completely, which was alarming after spending a couple of hours building. It goes to a black screen where you have to restart. This would happen maybe two or three times, then it would run fine for the rest of the gaming session. Thats the major problem, and shouldn't happen with a
