GeForce GTX 970 Superclock 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Virtual Reality is upon us with the likes of Oculus Rift already available and HTC Vive coming very soon. Valve have released a SteamVR benchmark which will test your system for VR Readiness, we advice customers to run this benchmark as the minimum specification to be VR Ready is a GTX 970 from camp NVIDIA. VR is a game changer for games such as Elite Dangerous, Portal 3, Flight simulator, Project cars and who knows the elusive Half Life 3 may make an appearance from Valve as being VR optimised, lets keep our fingers crossed.

Maxwell is the most advanced GPU architecture ever made, designed to be the engine of next generation gaming. Inspired by light, it was designed to solve some of the most complex lighting and graphics challenges in visual computing. For the first time, gaming GPU's can dynamically render indirect light using the new VXGI (Voxel Global Illumination technology). Scenes are significantly more lifelike as light interacts more realistically in the game environment.

The GTX 980 is the worlds fastest GPU and the GTX 970 offers the most advanced performance in its class. Each delivers 2x the performance of previous-generation card, bringing new gaming experiences to virtual reality, and ultra resolution 4k displays.

Enable the detail of 4k monitors, on a 1080P display. DSR produces smoother images by rendering a game at a high resolution, then downscaling it to the native resolution of the display using advanced filtering.

GeForce GTX 980 and 970 cards support tear-free, super-fast NVIDIA G-Sync monitor display technology including 4k. Together, these technologies provide the most immersive and competitive gaming experiences possible.

Get VR Ready with GeForce® GTX.
GeForce® GTX graphics cards provide a powerful next-generation platform for the ultimate immersive virtual reality experience. Immersive VR requires seven times the graphics processing power of traditional 3D apps and games. NVIDIA's unique set of features-such as multi-res shading-mean you get the right level of performance, image quality, and latency to ensure your VR experience is nothing short of amazing.

Quite Happy with this purchase

The review is a little bit late but after using this card since October 2014 I have to say I am very pleased with it. The performance is of course much higher than my old Gygabyte GTX 460 and I have to say I was a little bit nervous to go with EVGA especially since there were almost no reviews of this card. Fortunately this card did not disappoint. On idle this card runs at about 30-31 degrees and under load it used to go up to 76, but I found a fix for that. By default this card does not like going past 50% Fan Speed, so the card starts running hot, but with Precision X or MSI AfterBurner setting up a custom fan curve this is fixed. Dying Light runs with mostly max settings (except for view distance) and the card keeps at about 61 degrees, while at first it would reach 76-78. The sound is a little bit disappointing, on idle the card runs quite quiet, but under load when fan goes over 2000 RPM the sound becomes quite loud, but nothing a pair of headphones while playing can't!
solve. The coil whine is also present on this card, but somehow it does not annoy or distract me too much. Overall this card is really good, fast maybe loud but still it does not annoy me too much. If you do not mind the louder fan sound and coil whine (which might be fixed in newer cards) then I would strongly recommend this card. Oh and the boost clock actually goes up to 1354 MHz.

So I finally got around to buying another one for SLi, along with 2 EK GTX 970 Nickel water blocks,
What can I say visually Stunning gaming on my 50 inch Sony Bravia 4K @ an average of 50 fps on BF3, Assetto Corsa, F1 & Arma 3 all on a mix of around 80%ultra & 20% high settings.

Im not going to lie and say it was straight forward, had loads of issues getting it all to behave, lots of other tweaks needed, thought initially I had a bad card the way it all behaved once in the rig.

Best tip i can give is turn off all motion blur settings if youve got a pair of these. took me a while to find out but once off alot of issues went, and knock 1mhz off the refresh rate so its at 59mhz instead of 60!

Im still running a sweet first gen core i7 @4.4ghz on X58 platform, dont know if my initial issues are related to the older platform or not but alls well now, well chuffed and watch out for me on the battlefield!!!!

Amazing card, silent, low temps and exactly what I needed for a mini itx build. Returned a mini itx Gigabyte 970, as it went bang after one day and after the usual excellent service on rma from overclockers, ordered this as a replacement. Very happy bunny!

amazing card evga gtx970

received my card today went straight into my x51 pc replaced my gtx 760 a fantastic card cant hear it running at all and the games look amazing so much better performance than the 760 and i got a bag of sweets as well

Super card, got one in the rig for now, buying another very soon, upgraded from a pair of 560ti's in SLi.
This card runs games at 4k on a 50inch sony bravia 4k Tv with ease, settings are not all on ultra and why i need another in SLi but BF3, F1 2014, Arama 3 all run beautifully on high settings on a massive 4k screen, cant wait to get another in the rig to run everything on ultra!!
