hi all
i'm back from holiday and now that there is core i5....i go for it instead of i7 coz it is relatively cheaper but anyways

5870 gone out and i been wondering is it really worth it?
Well yes DX11 card....but will it really be needed? i mean i can play games on dx10 right?

so i wanted to buy 4890 Vapor-X card, its a good one too but its not DX11,big deal?

what should i do?

Well seeing as there are no games that use DX11 yet I would buy the 4890 - by the time DX11 games come out the 5870 will either have dropped significantly in price or new cards will have come out that are better anyway.

All DX11 games will run fine in DX10 mode using DX10 cards. It's the same situation as with DX9 cards running DX10 games.

TBH, it's best to wait a bit for the 58xx prices to stabilize, but investing £140 in a 4890 right now seems a bit of a waste too.

I think the 5850 is the sweet spot. It's only 15% slower than the 5870 but 30% cheaper. At £200, you'd be mad to buy a noticeably slower 4890 for £40 less.

What monitor and resolution do you run games at? If you aint running at top resolutions i dont think you would notice the difference between a 4890 and a 5870 just yet.

I'd wait and get a 5850 when they available soon for £200

Why is everyone getting hanged up about dx111
? this card would be worth it if it didn't have dx11. This is just a future proof +. dx11 will come.but this card is a must if u want best performance! Pawns 295gtx in most games. No micro stutter, no profiles needed. Less power at idle than a laptop, saving u masive cash in future. Tri monitor setup!Quiet. U name it this card has got it. Awesome card
