Just got a letter from the DVLA today to say that my "photo" needs to be renewed, so they want money from me becuase they want to get it changed and if i dont im breaking the law

I think this is absurd, why should I pay money to the goverment to change "MY" photo ?

i think its ridiculous, most other EU ones don't even have an expiry date
but i think everything's going to be standardised in the coming years

Not when i passed my test, sonny jim :D ! Only if you need to change your address or details do you need to give it up and receive a new photo licences, if not, then you can keep hold of your original until the date it expires (2040'ish for me i think)

Lol still got my paper one aswell , runs out when im 70
should i send it in and change it for a nice plastic one hmmmm £20 then £20 every 10 years hmmmmm

Thats a tough one :p:D

I agree, I had the samething happen to me, and I'm not happy about it either, its actually profit free but the bureaucracy and the prettiness of the card make it quite expensive, but still upsets me thinking about it!
