Was looking at building a decent gaming PC for 1080p gaming. Mainly fortnite, csgo, rust, rainbow six seige.. but I dont want to be limited to only eSport games.

Is this the best I can get for the money or should I go for a 1660?

Any changes welcome..

Sounds like a plan..

So the RX590 will be able to play Cyberpunk and other newer AAA titles comfortably?

If thats the case then it seems the remaining budget can be used for SSD or case etc.

Is there any difference in the SSD or M.2 drive?

The RX590 will handle the newer titles well at 1080p, plenty of YouTube videos to show the results aswell :)

With SSD and M.2 there is minimal difference especially as you'll be gaming you won't see the difference it's that small... However Im pretty sure when you use an M.2 it disables SATA ports 5 & 6 so any extra storage you add you won't be able to use those ports..

The good thing about M.2: no cables needed :p

Cheers.. if he was go from RX590 to 5700XT/2060.. what would he gain from the extra £150-200.. is it worth or should he just be using the RX590 and upgrading a few years down the line?

5700XT will run smooth a 1440p whereas the 590 may need a bit of settings tweaking in game as its not as powerful... If sticking at 1080p then get the RX590 that will be perfect, then spend anything extra elsewhere if needed

Cheers,

Since I have a rough idea of the parts based on price also, would the RX590 or 1660 SUPER be better to get? Noticed in some benchmarks the 1660 has higher frames and only seems around £50-70 more.

1660 super would get my vote just for the future proofing. if you have the budget always buy the best you can afford as it will last longer.

It's hit and miss in some titles at 1080p... The division 2, Rage 2 and a few other titles the RX590 seems to come out on top or very close to the 1660S... Its upto you if you feel its worth the extra £50-£70

100% dump the SSD + HDD combo, and put in a £95 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD. It's a much better plan even if it does cost an extra £15-20, you can always throw in another SSD down the line, and NAND prices are continuing to fall.

I'd be tempted to just go with the RX 590, and sell the game code for £20 if you don't want it. That would make the GTX 1660 Super at least £70 more for the cheapest version you could get, or £90 for a better version. You won't be getting anywhere near 50% increased performance for the 50% extra cost. :)

Yeah large ssd seems to be best decison will choose that.

I think the RX590 is the best option for him. I noticed the 5500XT are around the same price and similar performance but not releases yet.

Is it worth waiting for these or just get 590. Also when are the 5500XT released?

Only thing not 100% on is the case... so he can choose whatever he prefers but I said £50-70 is a good point.

So being £50 under budget is there anything that should get added to this build?

Lol..

Well incase he needs more space ill prob either add in the 480gb ssd or 1tb hdd for £35-45.

Also he was looking at a 144hz montor.. any recommendation on here for 1080p 144hz freesync??

Or should he just stick with 75hz?

AOC 24G2U 1080p 144Hz IPS Freesync. Currently have one that's part of a build I'm doing. Great screen for the money. Nice colours out of the box. HDMI and DP cables included. Solid stand, lot of height adjustment, tilt, pivot, rotate. They're going to sell loads of these.

Cheers just finalising the build now.

What is better:

Gigabyte M.2 NVME 1TB £99.95
or
Kingston 960GB SSD £79.99

Is it worth saving £20?

Im going to also add either a 1TB HDD or 480GB SSD.

Right... after speaking with them they said they might jump up from the RX590 to the 5700/2060 (preferably the 5700 for freesync). Mainly cause the prebuilt system they seen before for £950 had a 2060, but the other parts were no were near what I have here.

So I put this together for £900... is this worth the money? 1080p gaming, high FPS, future proof for a good while.
