I thought the LG CX's had some anti-retention trickery built in?
From what I've read the problem is more accurately called "uneven aging". OLED pixels age as you use them, and the speed of aging varies with brightness and other factors.

There's not a huge amount you can do about it. The LG's have wear-levelling programmes/patterns that you can run, but it's not guaranteed to prevent burn-in/accelerated aging.

In fact none of the OLED manufacturers will warranty a screen against burn-in. It's considered wear and tear and up to the user to prevent.

I had a dream last night the 3070 was released for £375 and the 3080 was £849.... sad ey haha! I'm hoping the 3080 is a sub £600 card that handily beats the 2080 Ti by a good 25-35% and I'll bite! I've got 5 games to play now (Doom, re3, gears 5, metro exodus, Terminator) and my spare GTX 670 ain't cutting it at 1080p never mind 4k :p

I'll wager that the 3070 is closer to £600 than the 3080 is ;)

3070 ~ £550
3080 ~ £799

Maybe :p

That's true!! If the 3070 does offer 2080 Ti performance for £400 I might get that. If there's £150 different but the performance is there for the 3080 (25-35%) I'll get that instead. The Ti/Super will be too much for me the justify if I want a PS5 too for me and the girlfriend :D

I think a better way of measuring advancement is looking at performance increases at given price points.

Turing gave us next to nothing in that regard at launch but Nvidia played a shell game with GPU *names*.

"Look! The 2080 is as fast as the 1080ti!" (Pay no attention to the fact that the xx80 series card now costs as much as the previous xx80ti series)

I don't care what they call the new cards. I want to know what they cost and how they perform.

The could make the 3050 as fast as the 2080ti and it won't matter if the new 3050 costs 1k.

My guesses for the price of the new cards from Nvidia.

Using dollar prices.

3060 - $399
3070 - $549
3080 - $749
3090/3080Ti - $999

Using UK prices

3060 - £699
3070 - £899
3080 - £1199
3090/3080Ti - £1499.

:p:D Only joking with the UK prices (Kinda ;)) It's always hard to figure out where the UK price will land next to the dollar price.

This sounds more like it, but I think prices will be a touch higher. These cards will likely have no competition, and are highly sought after due to HDMI 2.1's implications now, and in the future.

I would be surprised if the 3070 was more than $499. I recon it could even be less.

Don’t think I would pay over a grand for a card again .

Wish I had your optimism :D

It's hard to call tho this gen with the console situation. But for the last two gens nV have bumped their prices, and I'm sure if they think people will pay they won't be morally opposed to doing the same again ;)

I guess braging rights is worth more money to some people than others.

I want my Reverb to run Project Cars 2 on high settings. -maybe some headroom for new titles that may come out over the next few years.

Once that is covered, I don't care how much faster other cards may be. They could make a card that is capable of running 3 Reverbs at once at 240fps and it might be "the best" GPU on the market....but I won't pay a lot of money for "the best" in that case.

Or just get the one I want and not waste money on a console? And then, here is a wacky idea, i could go on a PC forum and discuss PC hardware without numptys telling me to buy a console instead "because there's nothing a PC can do better".

Buy/use what you want, and be happy :) Just because someone writes something, or says something, doesn't mean you have to do it ;)
