Quick query for you folks. Got an Alpha ROS light jacket from Sigma for a decent price, CHPT3 Alpha ROS Light Jacket | Sigma Sports , however the bottom of the zip is bare i.e. plastic on show on the back of the zip and feels like it will rub\damage tights\shorts. Is this normal with Castelli? Assos have a botton zip locker thingy and Rapha have that part stitched into the jacket. Sorry I should have taken some pic's but I've boxed it for return. Its a nice jacket and I think I'm trying to convince myself to keep it.

Would they not still be added to their statistics on the profile page?
I think in theory they don't show up there to others but do for yourself. I vaguely recall some issues like this before but think it involved opening support ticket for them to refresh/correct stats.

Edit: Try going to "My Profile" then on right hand side "My Stats" below that there is a refresh stats button.

Sounds similar to my issue, I had this on the inside zip and it eventually failed, missus had to replace the zip completely as it was about a year old at that point.

Festive 500 completed today in cold conditions - 3 layers of socks, northwave boots and overshoes and still came home in agony on my feet! Rest of me was fine and sweating.... Due to the consistent cold and lack of company that was probably the toughest 500 I've done. Usually manage about 50% with mates, but this was all on my lonesome like most of the year! New Boardman ADV9.0 was faultless throughout though once I got my position right! Just need some mudguards for it now.

9250ish miles for the year, and 600000ft of climbing, not bad considering I spent June to September on the CX bike mostly offroad! Odd year for riding, some delightfully peaceful rides early lockdown and then my big accident in May, great rides in Sicily to watch the Giro in October and then freezing my nuts off for Festive500 to finish it off. Hopefully next year will bring more racing and socialising! Will definitely be aiming to do more group rides! Only managed about 5 or 6 excluding my lone lockdown training partner.

Can anyone tell me how a 'year in sport' from Strava would be completely out of line with someones profile statistics in terms of time spent, mileage, elevation etc? Or have they just used another persons screenshot :D

are you using garmin devices to record activities, if so more than one ?

sounds like a sync problem

Different parts of Strava seem to show different things. My 'Year In Sport' covers road, virtual and eBike, but my profile might only be regular road miles. I don't get it myself. Either count it or don't...

Well well well it must be Christmas or there abouts; I've been given tentative permission to replace my Sidis.

Truth be told I've been happy with them, but I do get foot issues with occasional numbness and soreness; I think the only sort of upgrade I'm dead set on is the boa dials. Any thoughts for around £300?

Another vote for Shimano RC9 or whatever the latest version is.

I do find Shimano's quite narrow. I have R171's in Wide for my commuters and they're good 'relaxed' fit on me. All other shoes are regular sizing. Picked up a pair of 'used' Giro Savix in an insane deal (£35 with fitted cleats which look like they'd not been walked on or ridden more than a handful of times - barely marked!). Although I wasn't taken by the glossy look of them, in the flesh they're not nearly as 'bad'.

Happy New Year all! I really have not ridden outside more than once for what feels like weeks! Still have got some quality Zwift sessions in, mostly group rides but also dropped the ball with getting some of the TTT's done as the group I generally ride with hasn't had the numbers. Did 204km for the Festive500 but it's not really something I target anyway...

Hopefully can find s new home on a dimension/power style saddle.
Have really found the Power the saddle for me. I have the cheapest one (£90?) and one which cost £160 although not sure which in the range they are. My expensive one looks like the 'Expert' but possibly the 'Arc' even though it's branded S-Works instead of Specialized like the cheaper one. I have another 'Arc Expert' with a hyper green S I paid £79 for in a Sigma deal, so well worth hunting around and checking regularly.

It's old school Cube 56CM (so actually a usual 54CM with most other brands) frame and I am only 173cm (5ft 8in). So it's nowhere near too small for me really! I've just ended up this way through trial and error and find it comfortable :) On our training weekend at start of year a couple of lads rode beside me and on their drops their head still wasn't as low as mine when I was on my hoods. So just lucky this works for me really. It's probably not optimal in the slightest but if I am comfy enough and it's working then I am sure as hell leaving it that way :p

They are Cold Dark North bottles Jo got me for Xmas last year :) I think they maybe are just like Tacx or Elite bottles but with the CDN branding and stuff on them. I do prefer my Secret Training bottles with a soft lid thing on them. Nicer on the teeth.
Ahhhh fit makes sense, for some reason I thought you where similar height to me (5'7) but riding smaller frames than 54cm (like I am). You must have a long torso for that position. I think I do too, but I also have short legs...!

The bottles have the same shape as the Shanti bottles, but the tops are different, they have pulls, the Tacx Shanti has a turn top, so certainly no teeth abuse (I hate that), but they are a fiddle to do one handed with gloves on. So much of a pain I usually ride with the tops undone, but the valves are so good there's no leakage. HAve to say I like the DHB/Prime bottles I have. Pull tops but they are quite big and wide ones which pull easily like the Elite bottles (which they are a complete copy of).

Roady, the later straps are much better than the earlier red ones! No issues with them snapping and seem a lot more stretchy/strong.
It's not the straps I have a problem with, I'm still on my original red one which is now almost white from being sun bleached! It's the plastic base clips which break...

Sorted. Rest of the county in Tier 4 from Saturday.
Tier 1 straight into 3 here!

one of those thnigs wherre i dont know how much good costs lol
It's worth going through various <£50 saddles then if you find one just about right, try the similar shape/brand higher up the range for a slightly different (and possibly perfect) fit.

I got given a slow cooker for Christmas. @Berger you might have given me a real use for it.
Curry. Screw waxing chains!

Good work, 4500 miles here and 180,000ft but that's quite a mixture of outdoor and Zwift miles. Probably most of the distance is Zwift (generally group rides and TTT's), whereas most of the climbing was outdoor.

My last 3 years since the lad came along:
2018: 4001mi & 150,794ft
2019: 4056mi & 152,621ft
2020: 4519mi & 180,459ft

So a nice little jump up from my norm really must be due to all the furlough and Zwift TTT miles as number of group rides has been tiny. Massive improvement in fitness from that though with FTP increase of 30% (or more).

Shimano Sphyre RC901's here. Absolutely love them. Perfect shoe.
The 902 is out now. Much cheaper than all the other brands for equivalent tech and features so I cannot see past them.

@Roady just bought a dimension off Facebook for £30. Hopefully my arse gets on with it.

Got out today in cold conditions , sketchy blocks of snow/ice/slush at points but no injuries.

Really need better footwear or spatz as it's my only niggle really. Even the saddle was ok even if it slid all the way back on its rails.

Will try drop the nose a fraction and see how it is. On a positive note, I've found the reason for my saddle sore issue. A saddle too narrow, and slight right side bias combined with a slightly smaller right foot. If I sit on a trainer under load you can see it just about and centre line of bibs is off at rear. Debating how to fix. Cleat a fraction forward on right side or possibly 1mm shim right side.
Some core work may be all it takes to sort that imbalance, maybe even a shim in the right shoe or insoles is all it takes. Ideally you'd need a good bike fitter to specifically look at your movement on the bike to determine the exact issue and best way to remedy. Most of my problems come from being quite mobile on the saddle, when I don't need to be. I rock around a lot and get sores because of it. I used to be loads worse due to collapsing arches which using insoles solved. I don't do any core work.

If you do it properly, you will be VERY impressed and never go back to cave man lubes ;)
How long do you find it lasts indoors, worth looking at? Even if using white spirit bottle cleaning & then something like squirt, so I don't have to heat?

I wouldn't recommend you try it but it appears that the IPX7 rating of an elemnt Bolt is enough for it to survive a run through the washing machine :o

I did wonder what that clunking sound was
Glad it survived!

The couple of Castelli winter jersey/jackets I have, have an inner 'flap' which is long enough to sit below the zip all the way to the bottom.

Really need better footwear or spatz as it's my only niggle really. Even the saddle was ok even if it slid all the way back on its rails.
Couple of people who've asked me recently I'd said about Spatz but also pointed them towards Winter Boots as think they're more of a cold weather 'solve' than Spatz.

The couple of Spatz I have, although good for cold weather (Roadman specifically), are not a huge amount 'better' than a standard overshoe for cold/wind protection. They're loads better in the wet, but for the cold they offer very little more, other than a higher and closer fit, with insulation up the leg. If your calves are cold then a good solve, but if the actual foot freezing is your problem, then a winter boot or wearing toe covers under normal overshoes will do more.

im guessing i cant exactly go and sit on a load of saddles in a shop cos of covid ha ha
Worth asking your LBS. Many of them (who do fitting) will have test saddles they might be happy to lend out. Obviously depends on your relationship with them. It's pretty easy to make a saddle 'safe' from CV19 after someone borrowing it and returning it, less so about handling lots of different stuff in the shop which is probably their primary concern...

For indoors I would use Squirt instead.
Degrease and completely clean the chain. Dry it properly for 24 hours then do as instructed on Squirt instructions.
It will last very very long between minimal top ups of more Squirt. I am not exactly keeping tab on it but would say every 4 weeks-ish I am putting another fine layer of Squirt on the chain via 1 rotation and that's certainly enough.

Molten Speedwax or a proper bathed hot wax WILL last longer and is better all round. But first few uses will see excess wax lobbed all over your trainer and room/garage. I'd say it is overkill for indoor use only and Squirt is the ideal for indoors only chains.

Re arse, this sounds all kinds of wrong, but if you can't get access to saddle pressure mapping or don't want to pay for it, you can use a mirror to check your arse after a ride. Doing this and seeing how the skin was marked up was inline with my mapping. You want even redness across both sides and spread fading out from each sitbone. If you don't have even redness or there is a darker red pressure area on one side and not the other, it is a question of time and mileage until you have a problem. I'm convinced a lot of people get away with it due to lower time spent on the bike. If bike setup is good, saddle width is good, cleats are setup well, hygiene is good and bibs are well suited, you should never really get them. Curved saddles not adjusted for climbing doing heavy climbing more towards nose is one exception.

Quite happy to look at Shimano.

Trouble is there's nowhere I can try them on anymore :(. All the reviews do seem to mention that no one had trouble with numbness though, so perhaps thats enough to warrant a punt.

Though I think finding stock is going to be the real issue.

@Drollic I'll check that out after a ride. After Sunday I'm thinking it was a case of saddle too low. I raised it and was fine for 3 yours and for 40 minutes tonight.

I've ordered some Rc7 that are due end of this month.

Hoping they fit well. I'm a 9 in a Nike trainer and my old RO87 were fine in a 44. I tried to replace them with RP5 I think it was but the weird flap setup meant I couldn't get my foot in.

The BOA system should make getting them on easier for my dodgy foot.

I should maybe have ordered winter boots over a race shoe given the season we are in.b.
