Right guys my brothers ageing PC is in need of an upgrade.

He doesnt have a lot of cash & is basically just after an upgrade in the GFX department to enable him to play some newer games like STALKER, Loki, CoD 4 (When it's released), Two Thrones

Now his System is a High Street special :eek: so nothing spectacular but after a bit of searching containe ths following...

P4 3.2Ghz (HT version)
1GB Generic Ram
Generic M/Board
Geforce 6200GT Graphics Card PCI/E
320GB HDD

I'm buying him another Gig of Ram to go with the upgrade anyway & I just need some advice on a better GFX card.

The cheaper the better tbh but I reckon I could sub him some money & make it up a bit so think in theory we could be looking at about £60-£80 max for one.

What's worth considering...obviously second hand is an option as I'll be getting loads more for the money.

Are 6800's still worth considering or should I aim for newer cards??

Anyway thanks in advance for any help.

Neil

I second that from Loadsa. As long as the PSU is up to the job.

If it's not then what about these PSU's. Please do not buy one of these until someone can verify if they will be ok for your brother as I've never been great with working out PSU's other than what's written on the side but it's not the proper way to understand the rails.

Thanks for the help guys it's much appreciated.

Will have a look at his PSU when I go round there during the week.

I think though it will just be a VERY basic ATX PSU so not expecting much above 320w if I'm lucky so we may have to upgrade that as well for him.

Will let you know what I come up with.

Thanks again

Neil
