Blocking web sites?

Hio guys.

Well, I wanted to restrict a web site from a machine at work. It's running Windows XP Professional and SP2 along with IE7. Now, I added a web site (www.yahoo.com) to the block list, however IE7 still allows the user to get into the site?

Is there anyway I can block these sites?

Many thanks!

If the user isnt too competent then you can do this:

Click start and run and put in c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc and click ok.

Then double click the "hosts" file and open it with notepad

on the very last line add this: 127.0.0.1 www.yahoo.com

Save the file and exit.

This will re-direct all traffic to his local machine instead of Yahoo, giving him a "page cannot be displayed" message

However if this is at work, would it not be better to point out to his manager or superviser the amount of time he is on Yahoo? or pointing out the problem you have with it?

I am the superviser. ;)

The staff member thinks it's okay to not listen to me at times I am not around. So, this is the easiest way I can think of doing it.

Thank you very much for your help, I will give it a try now. :)
