I need to be able to apply a policy to any user that logs on to a set of laptops, to set their proxy settings in IE, however the setting i need to change are user settings, and i need to apply them to a computer. I believe that loopback mode, does not work, and that is to apply computer settings to a user, i need to do the opposite - Any ideas ??

I take it it you are using Active Directory?

If so then put all your laptops in a container and then apply a new policy to that container, so they always get those restrictions and policy settings.

Like this: (although this is the users not computers);

Loopback mode is what i wanted afterall.

Loopback mode sets user configurations to a computer. so any user that logs on to that computer, as long as loopback mode is enabled, will get the user settings set for that machine.

So users can be in their own OU, and get their normal settings, then as soon as they log on to the laptop , the get the laptop enforced settings.

LOOPBACK Mode is what i didnt think would work, but it does, i had it the wrong way round in my head for some reason.
